Re: [Clicky Hips Club] shallow hip????

Hi

Is there anyway you could see a PAEDIATRIC Orthopaedic Doc?? Children's bones
are so different to adults and Ped Ortho's have special training in this area.

It may be that Jessica doesn't need surgery, but for peace of mind I would get a
second opinion from a Ped Ortho. If she does need surgery, then the sooner this
condition is dealt with the less invasive surgery is needed.

I wish you lots of luck and please let us know how you get on.

Take care
Sara (Emily's Mum)

Subject: [Clicky Hips Club] shallow hip????

Hi my daughter had/has DDH both hips since birth. She wore a pavlik
24/7 for 6mths and then had an xray where the ADULT orto doc said her
hips were still slightly shallow but just said to come back in 6mts
when she was re xrayed and they had improved by 1/2 mm???? he still
said no treatment was neccassay and hes seeing what will happen. She
is going back in a few weeks and im probably being paranoid but if
the hips are still shallow DOESNT she need treatment?? has this
happened to anyone else. She recently went to the Birmingham
childrens hosp for an unrelated check and the doctor there gave her
the once over and asked if we knew she had DDH. If a doc can pick it
up like that it says to me its not improving??
HHHEEELLLPPP.
Jessicas mum.

Claire, I would be worried as you are. A 1/2 mm change is really small. The problem with DDH is that if you wait too long then the treatment gets more ...

Claire, It is very possible for a child to have had some treatment, then stopped treatment, and things to either get worse, or have never been totally 'fixed'...
