The test that you are referring to is an arthogram, where the ped ortho
surgeon injects dye. This dye allows more of the hip to be seen. Anything
that is cartilage will not show up without this test. My daughter has had
an arthogram, in fact it is generally done when a child has an open
reduction done so that the doctor can tell what is going on. It is not
painful and will be completed fairly quickly. As to why your daughter has
something growing on the outside of the one hip that is the question. I
have heard of it a time or two. Have things been okay since your daughter
came out of the splints? Was there any hint of this at her last visit?
