Hi, Thanks for the link,
Ollie's Dr said although they are two seperate conditions, he was suspicious
that Ollie should develop perthes at such an early age, & prehaps his open
reduction(s) triggered it????????
Or maybe he was just predisposed to hip problems, there are no hip problems we
know of in either mine or my hubbys family & have reseached 3 generations on my
side and 4 on his???
I would rather have a reason for it than put it down to bad luck (there is only
so much bad luck a 6yo can have!!!)

Rachel,
My daughter had traction in the hospital. But the reason why I am writing
to you is that I am part of another hip dysplasia group and we do have some
who have done home traction. The site is www.hip-baby.org . I was not
aware that Perthes and DDH are connected, in fact I have been told that they
are two separate problems. Is that true? I hope that you can find some
answers in your traction questions.
Nancy[keeper of the www.hip-baby.org website, mom to Claudia, misdiagnosed
at 9 months, diagnosed at 16 months old with bilaterally dislocated hips and
DDH, 8 days traction, adductor tenotomy, closed reduction, spica casts for
20 weeks, full-time abduction brace wearing for 1 year, bilateral open
reductions and pelvic osteotomies, spica casts for 7 weeks, now going for
once a year check-ups!]
