Hi everyone,
I have a 6 year old son Ollie who was born with congenital
dislocation of both hips (due to shallow acetabula and musculature
problems + short left leg), who was diagnosed last January with
Perthes disease, he has been in and out of hospital 5 times in the
last 12 months and has had every brace, cast and treatment going, he
has just been discharged from hospital (15/01/04) after 2 weeks bed
rest and traction, his consultant wants him to have home traction,
we have just taken delivery of the frame and apparatus and had
instructions on how to attach Ollie.
He has two types of home traction - over bed. & thomas splint - for
when he is in his wheelchair.
I know that his main problem is his Perthes at the moment, but I am
having trouble locating information (support) on home traction as it
doesn't seem to be used that often here in the U.K
Anyone had any experiance with home traction?
I would love some support.
Thanks,
Rachel
