Re: Regarding Nephew

Hi Leanne
I'd already checked the leg length and both legs looked equal
although I've heard that if a child has "bilateral" hip dysplasia
then there may not be an obvious shortening as opposed to a
dislocation in one leg only where it is easier to see the shortening.

I told my sister that the creases did look different, both were
actually quite big looking creases with the right side looking quite
a lot bigger than the left, and she did agree that there was a
difference.
I phoned her up again yesterday and advised her to go to the doctor
with him today, I also emphasised to her that if there is anything
wrong then as we all know it's better to act now and not to wait
another 6 weeks, but she says she wants to give him until he's 10
months to see if he takes the weight on his feet by then.
I couldn't emphasise enough to her that it's better to act now but
she seems so determined to wait until he's 10 months.
I'll be seeing her later on today, so will look at my wee nephew
again and try to convince her yet again that for her peace of mind
she needs to take action now. If there's nothing wrong then she'll
have saved herself 6 weeks of needless worrying.

I'm so pleased to hear how well Sophie is doing, when Jenna's leg was
shorter at the beginning it didn't seem to bother her either.
Sophie's leg will slowly but surely catch up with the other one
Leanne but it's a very gradual process. In January, Jenna's surgeon
said that her leg (after 1 1/2yrs from her first ops) had caught up
quite a bit. So it does take time, you wouldn't know there'd ever
been anything wrong with Jenna looking at her now.

Please keep us all posted on Sopie's continued progress, let us know
how her check-up goes next week.
Good luck and very best wishes, thanks again for your help.

Love Susan
