When my daughter was a baby we mentioned her clicking hips to the
health visitor, we were told that this was normal, so we didn't worry
any more about it (not knowing much about cdh), however she was
diagnosed at 16 months old with cdh.
Our second daughter has had her hips thoroughly checked, her first
appointment was at 4 weeks old, the specialist checked her hips and
she had an ultrasound scan, one of her hips had slight movement so
they checked her again and she had another ultrasound at 8 weeks and
all was fine. She is having an x-ray at 6 months and 1 year old and
will then be discharged if all is still ok.
I think that if they think there is a problem with her hips she will
be put into a splint straight away, one of my friends is currently in
a similar situation with her baby, her hips are clicking but are not
dislocated, and she is coming to the end of 3 months in a splint,
will hopefully hear next week that all is ok.
