I am really pleased that James' scan was fine and I bet that's a weight of your
mind.....
Has Grace finished her treatment now?
Emily came out of her cast in December after 7 months and she had a check up
last week. Her hips are still very shallow but the surgeon expected this. The
only concern I have is that one of her femur's is a slightly odd shape with a
slight abrasion on the top. Again the surgeon wasn't too concerned about this
and reckons she will grow out of it. Obviously, I am concerned and would love
to hear from anybody that has been through this and give me some reassurance.
I hope everyone is ok. This site has been very quite for the past few months.
Take care
Sara

Subject: [Clicky Hips Club] Ultrasound
Hi everyone
I just wanted to report that James has had his hips scanned by
ultrasound - a very simple and quick procedure. We were told that
they looked fine, so he shouldn't need to go through all the
treatment that Grace had, thankfully. I was interested to find out
that only some hospitals have staff trained to scan babies' hips by
ultrasound. I had to ask if we could be referred elsewhere as our
local hospital only does x-rays at five months. It's thanks to this
Group that I was informed enough to ask, so it's definitely worth
knowing about. I think Steps are trying to get ultrasound more
widely available so that all babies at risk are checked out early,
as early diagnosis can make all the difference. Hope everyone else
is OK.
