Suzanne,
Thanks for your interest. If your club became a Primary Sponsor you
would have to raise funds from clubs in your District. For example, if
it were a $25,000 Grant you would have to raise about $7,500. There is
more to it then just raising money, but that is probably the most
important item. Everything else is in place.

I think we can total $600,000 in Grants this Rotary year. We are at
$360,000 now. We hope to apply for 6 new Grants in July so we are on
fire. We can use all your help. We need some additional Primary
Sponsors. We need some new NGO's. Let's do it.

Wayne,
As you know we supply $50 Water Filter Systems. If we can work this
out we can supply Cruz Blanca. We are not in a position to analyze
what is the best system for them. My feeling is that if they can get
the water, our system can clean it.
If that is OK with their President and your Rotary Club accepts the
position of the International Sponsor, I will try to work things out.
I will try to get the Host Sponsor lined up.
How can we contact this President. Does he have an e-mail address
besides a phone?

George,
Yes, the area is in the hills NW of Guat. about 20 mi. (33 km). In
relation to a piping project not far from there I have had contact
with both Guatemala Nordeste (Erwin Deger) and Guatamala Sur (Roberto
Colmenares) Clubs. I am aware of your association with Guatemala
Sur. I understand both of the mentioned Clubs are now handling their
quota of MG projects so I am looking on a wider scale.
I am looking for someone to contact the President of Cruz Blanca,
someone who can, with knowlege of various clean water systems,
discover what is needed and can create a project fitting their needs.
I do know that there is an existing water system which has become
contaminated. At some time in recent history, there were plans to
install a chlorination system but that fell through due to misuse of
the designated funds. There seems to be no other funds forthcoming.
I can give the appropriate Rotarian the name of the President and his
phone no.
I envision Scotia Rotary as the primary International Sponsor Club.

Wayne,
I like to find International Partners first(U.S. and Canada), then I
try to find the appropriate Host partner. From what I read in the
Rotarian magazine, the area you are talking about is near Guatemala
City. Is this correct?
How many filters are you looking for?
Do you have a International Club in mind to be the Primary Sposor.

Thank you George,
I will appreciate any effort to locate partner clubs interested in
Cruz Blanca in this regard.

Wayne,
Mayan Families has a link on our site. They do fantastic things for
the people of Guatemala.
Our objective is to help ALL the extremely poor people of Guatemala
to have clean drinking water.
We are more then willing to help the people in San Pedro
Sacatepequez. We just have to find Host and International sponsors to
get together a Matching Grant. If your club is willing to be the
International Sponsor I will try to partner you with a Guatemala Host
Club so that we can help these people. That is what my job is.

Dear Alfonzo,
Has anyone put you in contact with Sharon Smart-Poage or Patti Mort, who direct MayanFamilies.org? They have so many ongoing projects, from building to installing stoves, etc. and they are headquartered in Pana. I am sure by now, George has put you on to them.
