Hello Roberto
I do not believe Corsini or anybody else produced tests to measure any of the
goals you mentioned.
C4R schools want children to become responsible, accountable, reliable, etc.
A C4R school operates on the basis of mutual respect which in itself has as a
basis the belief that there should be social equality.
This resourcefullness goal has to to with the belief that you should trust
children by giving them responsibility for their own education under a certain
guidance.
Responsiveness means such terms as being warm, friendly, sympathetic,
concerned, sensitive. Cooperation is also in it. In fact it covers the principle
of "social interest".
If you want to know more about Individual Education you should send an email
to this friend of mine Larry Nisan from Canada LNisan@...
Success,

Every individual strives for completeness. Variations are the
striving for perfection, superiority, and power, yielding different

Hi there,
I am SAM, an Iraqi refugee living in Lebanon at the moment; I have spent the
last 10 years of my life as a refugee registered with the UNHCR in Beirut. The
last 4 years, I have spent as an activist for peace and human rights (especially
refugees and asylum seekers) on the Internet; I'm also books author and ebooks
publisher. I have launched many campaigns to improve our situation as refugees
in Lebanon and hopefully bring more understanding to our problems worldwide. I
helped make many changes and improvements at the UNHCR office in Beirut; I used
the Internet as the field for my activities (you can read more about that in my
free ebook 'MY CAMPAIGNS'). All my ebooks are free and could be download from my
sites.
This is my newest campaign, it's about the illegal and humiliating actions of
the UNHCR, who using photos of refugees as banners and human-buttons to collect
money. This is an abuse of the dignity and humanity of the refugees and must
stop immediately and a clear public apology present by The United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees. My friends, I am talking about the pictures you can

Also you can read my new campaign 'Urgent, we need smile' here:

campaign by reading my article on my site and see the human-buttons. The
campaign is to support and improve the UNHCR http://www.unhcr.ch especially
after the last scandals in the UN and UNHCR, just for example: The refugees
allege that UNHCR staff is selling most of the food items they are supposed to
be supplied.
"They aren't supplying sufficient food to us because they sell most of the food

Rather than struggling to solve a difficult problem, the substance
abuser often seeks quick relief. Adler suggests a series of
penetrating interview questions that reveal what is being avoided, and
discusses the lack of preparation problem-solving since early
childhood. To access Theme Pack3: Substance Abuse, go to the Classical

New DVD - "Training of a Classical Adlerian Psychotherapist"
To order, go to: http://go.ourworld.nu/hstein/train-ther.htm.
Featuring Sophia J. de Vries, Ph.D. (Trained by Alfred Adler) Interviewed by
Henry T. Stein, Ph.D. (Trained by de Vries)
This two-hour discussion between two knowledgeable, experienced, Adlerian
clinicians offers the prospective student an illuminating overview of the
Classical Adlerian approach to training in depth psychotherapy. Nearly two
hundred topics are covered: the importance of studying Adler's original,
clinical writings; reflecting his warm, gentle, diplomatic, creative style of
treatment; a contrast to other variations of Adlerian theory and practice; and
the integration of Abraham Maslow's vision of optimal human functioning. Sophia
de Vries studied with Alfred Adler, Lydia Sicher, Alexander Müller, Fritz
Kunkel, Ida Loewy, Martha Holub, Rudolf Dreikurs, August Eichorn, Charlotte
Buhler, Karl Bühler, Ludwig Klages, Karl Jung, Ernst Kretschmer, and Maria
Montessori. One of her great contributions to Adlerian practice was her
masterful adaptation of the Socratic method to psychotherapy. After she trained
Henry Stein, they co-founded the Alfred Adler Institute of San Francisco and
co-presented at several national conventions. Her entire library of books,
articles, unpubished manuscripts, and personal notes are secured in the archives
of the Alfred Adler Institute of Northwestern Washington. This video offers the
student, professor, and clinician an abundance of rare insight into the profound
legacy of Alfred Adler.

I hate to be the devil's advocate but ...
If we asked a client to rate themselves isn't this going
against the idea of not using statistics as we all know it depends
on the biases and techniques of those who create the research project?
Creating statistics is against the idea of 'the whole person' or
the main Adlerian theory of wholistic "Individual Psychology"?
Case history of one client is the only research I believe is valid for
Adler.
I also believe that Adler showed that having verticle relationships
harms the idea of "social interest" and creates competition.
Verticle relationship meant you put yourself on a scale to judge
against others so you were above or below. A horizontal
relationship meant you stood equal in value.
Only horizontal relationships can create true "social interest"
which is a main measure of mental health.

Answers to ADD/ADHD
Do you have unanswered questions about your ADD/ADHD child? ADD/ADHD is a
term familiar to most parents. Often parents wonder if the reasons for their
child's lack of success in school is caused by this disorder. This
informational booklet begins by defining the disorder and listing the common
mental
traits, physical traits, and emotional traits that accompany it. It also
identifies the signs and indicators of ADD/ADHD at various ages from prenatal to
adolescence. The booklet lists four categories in which to help these
children--biochemical, sensorimotor, academic, and psychological--and offers
techniques
for doing so in each category. It is strongly stated that no checklist is a
substitute for a full evaluation, but the author does include a hyperactivity
screening checklist, medication effectiveness checklist, and classroom daily
report form that parents can use as a pre-screening device for their own
information. This booklet is a must for parents wanting practical ways to deal
with this often frustrating disorder. Also available as part of the Family
Power
Series.

I thought that John F. Taylor, Ph.D. had written on that topic, but
searches yielded only a book about ADD/ADHD.

Theme Pack 2: Dreams "On the Interpretation of Dreams," by Alfred
Adler.
After presenting a short summary of Freud's contributions to dream
theory, Adler offers a contrasting perspective of dreams (with
illustrations) as attempts to solve the problems of life, away from
common sense--toward an unconscious style of life. Chapter XXI
from "The Collected Clinical Works of Alfred Adler" - Volume 7 (13
pages). To access Theme Pack 2: Dreams, go to the Classical Adlerian
Resource Center at
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/hstein/them.htm. The article
will be sent as a pdf file, permitting searching, printing, and the
copying of text segments. A condensed overiew of Classical Adlerian
Psychology is also included in the theme pack.
"How Position in the Family Constellation Influences Life Style, " by
Alfred Adler, recently published as Chapter XXV in "The Collected
Clinical Works of Alfred Adler: Volume 7," is now available for
purchase as a single article. "Theme Packs on Selected Topics," a new
resource for students, professors, and researchers will feature a new
article every few weeks. To access Theme Pack1: Birth Order, go to
http://go.ourworld.nu/hstein/theme.htm. The articles will be sent as
a pdf file, permitting searching, printing, and the copying of text
segments. This will greatly facilitate the quotation of Adler's ideas
in academic papers.

Adlerian counseling and psychotherapy does not usually target the
symptoms, but the unique style of life of each indvidual.
Condequently, it is not possible to offer treatment recommendations
without knowing the relevant history of a client. Read "Classical

I'm wanting to help older persons with grief, suffering...
As a doctoral student, this is my primary area of interest.
I'm wondering if any individuals steeped in Adlerian thought have some
techniques that they would recommend I learn while in my doctoral
training.
Thanks for any suggestions.
An unpublished article by Alfred Adler, Children's Life Tests, can be
found at http://go.ourworld.nu/hstein/hoff-test.htm. It was edited by
Edward Hoffman.
"We can never tell whether a child has been rightly prepared for life
until he or she is faced with a difficulty. This is true even
regarding a small baby. As long as individuals, young or old, are not
challenged--put through a test, we might say--we know practically
nothing about their prior emotional-social training and present
capability. Therefore, life-tests are always necessary if we are to
understand children."
Volume 10 of "The Collected Clinical Works of Alfred Adler" is now
available. It contains two newly-formatted collections of case
readings and demonstrations. Part 1, "The Problem Child," presents
Adler's personal interviews with children, their parents and their
teachers, in one of his Viennese clinics.
Part 2, "The Pattern of Life" includes transcriptions of Adler's case
readings and demonstration interviews with adults, children, and
parents. The demonstration-lecture series was held for students at
the New School of Social Research in New York City.
All of these sessions offer a vivid impression of Adler's exceptional
ability to make immediate contact with children and adults, his
quick, yet profound insights, and his vigorous optimism about human
nature.
Through his case comments to students, brief interviews with family
members, and advice to children, parents, and teachers, he introduced
American psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and teachers to
a new method of helping families.

Bowen's "Multi-Generational Approach" emphasizes: exploring patterns
from family of origin, extended family patterns, myths, rules,
differentiation of self, and triangulation.
"Classical Adlerian Family Therapy" works to: understand the style of
life of each family member, understand the interaction of these styles
of life, increase the social interest of each member, elicit a new
family value of mutual benefit, provide encouragement and insight, and
utlize a Socratic style of inducing awareness.

Classical Adlerian Theory, Practice, and Life," at

brief quotes, comments about the progress of publishing and research

informative and entertaining.
"Volume 9 of "The Collected Clinical Works of Alfred Adler - Case
Histories" brings together three of Adler's books: "Problems of
Neurosis," "The Case of Mrs. A.," and "The Case of Miss R." Although
these books were previously published in English, the text required
substantial editing for readability. Adler's diagnostic brilliance
now shines through without the distractions of dated terminology and
awkward phrasing.
Adler takes us on a fascinating journey of life style analysis
through progressive levels of depth. In "Problems of Neurosis," he
offers us vivid thumbnail sketches of thirty-three cases, spanning
the symptoms of depression, obsession, compulsion, alcoholism,
schizophrenia, clairvoyance, agoraphobia, impotence, sadism,
masochism, and jealousy. He also discusses the general topics of
family constellation, earliest recollections, body postures, sleep
postures, organ dialect, and hypnosis.
In "The Case of Mrs. A.," Adler takes us a little deeper into a
single style of life. Working from the notes presented by another
physician, he spontaneously comments on each segment of information
offered to him: making conjectures, then testing them as he clearly
illustrates the coherence of a style of life.
"The Case of Miss R." takes us into yet deeper waters. This
autobiographical narrative of a young working-class woman was
strikingly frank about her sexual awakening in early twentieth-
century Vienna. Adler's artful evolution of a unified psychological
portrait is compelling to follow, as he weaves all of the early
family influences and social conditions into a beautiful, vivid
tapestry.
Volume 9 is a "must read" for anyone interested in the art of life
style analysis. His remarkable theory springs to life in this superb
series of richly varied case histories.

Volume 8 of "The Collected Clinical Works of Alfred Adler" comprises
a rare find--twenty-eight of Adler's unpublished lectures to medical
students and physicians. From November to December, 1932, Adler gave
a weekly series of seven postgraduate lectures in English at the Long
Island College of Medicine, in Brooklyn, New York. He also gave a
series of at least fifteen lectures in German (dates unknown) at what
was identified only as an "Urban Hospital," somewhere in Europe. Six
additional lectures on a variety of clinical topics are also
included.
In his lectures to medical students, Adler provides a compact
overview of Individual Psychology, made three-dimensional with an
abundance of case illustrations. He spans the disciplines of
medicine and psychology with astute insight and practicality,
addressing the challenges of the mind-body influences; the use of
symptoms, illness and pain; the abuse of drugs; the proper use of
medication; and the symptoms of sleeplessness, stuttering, enuresis,
and sexual dysfunction.
His lectures to physicians focuses more deeply on psychopathology,
including the full spectrum from neurosis to psychosis. With
impressive skill, he integrates medical and psychological histories
in a rich variety of case illustrations followed by several live
demonstrations of interviews with patients. His prodigious medical
knowledge and psychological insight provide us with a rarely
equaled, inspiring example of diagnostic and therapeutic ability.
All of these never-before-published manuscripts add to our
appreciation of Adler's remarkable understanding of human nature and
the cure for mental suffering. His unique synthesis of
psychological and medical knowledge, as well as his exceptional,
creative intuition, provide us with a timeless, profound resource in
our continuing quest for improving our therapeutic abilities.
