Re: [cinnfp] Pregnant! EDD?

To give a short answer, without knowing the average length of your cycles
she* can not* have calculated an accurate due date for you since your
average cycle length isn't 28 days (and in particular this cycle would
definitely have been longer). This is a serious problem as the due date
using an average cycle length will be off by around two weeks (or long
enough to pose a serious risk of unneeded and unwise induction)

Calculation by LMP are never as certain as peak day calculation in the first
place.

You have three choices,
a)tell the doctor the normal length of your cycles-if the doctor is any good
they will readjust your due date
b)tell the doctor the normal length of your cycles and your peak day-being
aware that many doctors will not know what to do with the peak day
information
c)fudge your LMP

I admit that I've always fudged the LMP (or why I've been within four days
of the due date for four out of five babies 8-D ). Partly for the simple
reason that remembering the peak date has always been easier for me then
remembering the actual LMP (LMP-not important, peak date -IMPORTANT).

Congratulations!!!!!! Just take the date of conception (or Peak) and add 266 days. That will give you an accurate due date. You can also fudge the books and...

I second the fudging the dates. Iatrogenic (doctor caused) prematurity is the leading cause of prematurity these days, through too early inductions/cesareans....

Ditto Emily! Twice I tried to explain it all to my OB - how my cycles are not a neat and tidy 28 days and I ovulate really late. We have children conceived as...

I would just say, "I was mistaken, my last LMP was Jan 8," or whatever the fudged date is. Doctors have certain protocols they are bound to follow, because if...

Well, if you go too far past your due date the placenta starts being less efficient and the rate of fetal demise rises. But we're talking like 42+ weeks. To...
