Re: [cinnfp] help! nyquil and nursing

Fenugreek is supposed to be good for milk supply...you can buy it as a tea,
usually sold as "Mother's Milk" or a similar name. I've been drinking it to help
me pump for my preemie.

Subject: [cinnfp] help! nyquil and nursing

okay, so I followed the advice of a close friend of mine who has nursed 5 of
her kids. It was the very first time I didn't look up a medicine for myself to
see if it was safe to take while nursing. And here I am, in trouble now. :(
After the flu going through our house for 2 weeks, I finally caught it. I was
desparate for some sleep and took 1/2 dose of nyquil @ 9p last night. My 7 month
old usually sleeps from 8p until 2a. So I thought that would be the safest time
to take it. I took water with it as well. Anyway, she slept until 4p and when
she nursed, I NEVER had a let down! She usually nurses about 5 minutes and then
falls back asleep. She just nursed for 21 minutes and NO let down. She normally
takes just one side. I let her take both, in hopes something happened. Nothing!
She wasn't fussy, just wide awake and staring at me. What did I do!?!?!? And the
worst of it is that she has severe allergies and I've been on a very restricted
elimination diet for 6 months now. If I threw that all out the window for one
lousy tablespoon of nyquil - OH! What can I do to increase my supply
ASAP!?!?!?!?
Diane

Send your husband out for some dark beer. Drink one a day. The hops stimulate milk production. That's all I got. jim ... -- Jim & Mary Margaret Van Damme ...

Also, Diane, not to panic.? You are a careful mother, I can hear.? One T. of Nyquil should not wreck 7.5 months of nursing.? Stress can affect our milk supply...
