You may want to consider re-setting some of the group's features if this is the role you want the list to take. For one thing, IMO one thing valuable about the CIN list was that the archives were public; right now this list's archives are private, members only. There are plusses and minuses to both approaches. As someone else suggested, IME the best setting for an open email list is that new members are moderated. That way only the moderator has to read the drivel you will get about dating services, body part enhancements and money making schemes.
