"The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning
and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the
brook. Some time later the brook dried up because there
had been no rain in the land. Then the word of the LORD
came to him:"Go at once to Zarephath of Sidon and stay
there. I have commanded a widow in that place to supply
you with food." (1 Kings 17:6-10 NIV)
My husband had gone about two years without a job. He
went on so many interviews, but nothing panned out. We
lived off unemployment and savings we accumulated. God
had blessed us. However, time was up. We were not being
fed anymore by ravens, as Elijah was. We had to move on.
All avenues we went down had a big road block. At that
point we were living in a wonderful apartment. We had a
lovely family living downstairs from us and we got along
just like we were all family. I was very happy. However, the
well had run dry.
We went to look at another cheaper apartment, which we
probably still could not afford. It was a musty little basement,
which was overpriced. I went home and cried hysterically in
my bed and prayed for God to please tell us what to do. I
heard Him very clearly tell us to move. I remembered my
husband's sister was moving. She was calling us to tell us
about her new beautiful apartment. It was also inexpensive.
I became completely quiet on that bed and heard the
LORD tell me to move and follow her. I told my husband
and felt peace inside. All the moving preparations went
smoothly. It was definitely God's work. There we were in
our car, filled to the roof, with two cats on my lap and hope
for a new beginning. Honestly, I did not want to go, but
this was where He was leading us. I just did not understand why.
Would you be willing to go now if the LORD told you to? Even
if none of it made any sense? It is a true question of trust
and that you have truly placed yourself in the palm of His hand.
