Re: [chronicdailyheadache] New to the group; here's my story. Not many guys here...

Rebecca:

Thanks for the suggestion.  I've always thought I had a long term sinus infection but several well respected ENT's have told me there's nothing there.  I've had CT scans, MRI's x-rays and people looking up my nose with lights.  Nothing.  But I STILL think that's the problem.  However, no one else does.

The two sessions of antibiotics produced a complete elimination of headache pain.  Nothing else has done that.  The only down side of being headache free for over a month was withdrawal from the drugs. However, when the headaches started back up and I had to go back on the drugs it pained me considerably more.

I have a headache every single day of the year.  Some days it wakes me, some days it starts an hour or two after I awaken but I always have one start in the morning.  If I'm lucky, I can beat it into submission with drugs.  If I'm not, it beats me up. That's why I took early retirement.  Never missed a day or work but there were a lot of days that I wasn't very productive.

Again, thanks for your concern and suggestion.  Hopefully we'll both get relief one day soon.

Mike

Hi Mike,
Has anyone checked out your sinuses?  Have they done a head CT for this specific investigation?  There is the chance you may have a chronic infection there which could explain your symptoms so well.  Sinusitis can be a serious infection and mimic your symptoms.  Some forms of sinus infection are so deep rooted they require long term IV antibiotics to clear.  Just a thought!

I've had CDH for about 27 years.  Have seen so many docs I've lost
count and tried so many different meds that I can't keep up the list
I started.  Unfortunately, not much has helped.  The only relief I
get is from Ultram and Vicodin taken together.  Of course my current
doc is having fits to get me off the stuff.  I've explained to him
that previous docs tried to do that with no success but that nothing
would make me happier than to stop taking the pills.

I've been through the stop taking the meds and the headaches will go
away routine twice and am NOT going to do it again even if that means
buying pills on the street corner.  Fix the headache and I'll get
myself off the pills.  So far, no one has been able to do that.

Strange thing is twice I've had relief following a course of
antibiotics for tooth infections. Once for over a month and once for
a day and a half.  Unable to replicate this with other ab treatments
and various docs have no explaination as to how it might have worked.
Has anyone else ever heard of this?

Several people here have mentioned "throbbing" pain but mine is
steady and feels like something is trying to drill out the front of
my skull, usually through or above my right eye.  Does anyone else
have similar pain and have you had any success alievating it?
