Hi Group,
I have also had CDH for too long - almost 9 years now. I had a
daily headache for a few months prior to the pain starting on a
continual basis, but otherwise no real warning that this was coming.
As with many of you, I have visited numerous docs. had all the tests
and have not really found anything wrong as of yet. The meds of
course is an endless list of things that sometimes work and sometimes
don't. My doc continues to want to put me in a 'migraine' category,
however, there isn't much to support that diagnosis. I have had no
luck with the migraine specific drugs, nor do I tend to have any
other symptoms that come along with a classic migraine. My last
attempt to answer the questions around these headaches was to look
for a potential spinal fluid leak. I was seen at the Mayo Clinic by
a neurologist and neurosurgeon and had various tests to check for
leaks. They did not find anything however they told me that it is
still possible that I have a leak somewhere it's just too small for
them to detect with the current technology - comforting isn't it.
They have suggested that I have a epidural blood patch to try to
raise the pressure of the spinal fluid and see if that helps. Like
anything else, it's a try it and see approach. I am honestly, very
frustrated by all this, but can't give up trying either. I would be
interested to know if any of the rest of you have tried this
treatment or been checked for this potential problem. Something to
think about. Thanks for listening.
By the way, my name is Kristy.
