Hi all,

I just stumbled across the Yahoo! Health Groups and figured I'd check
out the headache ones. I have a feeling I'll fit right in here...even
if I wish I didn't! :)

I am celebrating my chronic daily headache's 10th birthday this month.
I didn't have any trauma or anything that triggered them - the most
major thing that happened around that time was starting high school.
It was fall of my freshman year, and things were going well, I had a
great group of friends and I was on the cheerleading squad. The only
thing that changed was that I got a headache one day and it just
wouldn't go away. I have now had them for ten years and they just
won't leave me alone!

I have been to numerous doctors and been on just about every
medication known! I've seen neurologists, chiropractors, headache
specialists, nutritionists, fibromyalgia specialists, etc. I tried
Imitrex, amytriptaline, Maxalt, Paxil, and a bunch of others that I
don't remember their names right now. I tried birth control pills to
see if it was hormone-related. I even had Botox injections in my head
twice at age 19! (For the record, it hurts, and I'm keeping my
wrinkles.) I also live with depression, and I'm of the opinion that
that is related to the headaches, although I'm not sure which one is
the cause and which one is an effect. I have a few close family
members who deal with headaches a few who deal with depression, so
it's very possible that one (or both) is hereditary. Currently I am
taking Zoloft for the depression, but nothing specifically for the
headaches.

Well, now you know a little about me. I guess I'm just here to find
out what some other people have tried and gotten results from, and to
have a place to vent! (When I mention my headache to my husband, he
usually replies with, "And that's newsworthy why?") Thanks for
allowing me to vent here - I'm sure everyone around me is sick of
hearing about my headaches. Thank you!
