New to the group. I have had headaches since 2001   Message List

Hi All,
My name is Shari. A support group is going to be so nice. :) I have
been to the doctor for the headaches, but I cannot afford extensive
testing right now. I went to the doc in Oct. 2001 and I was
diagnosed with hypertension and am on a beta blocker used to treat
migraines with absolutely no relief. :( My blood pressure is better
now for the most part and I was able to reduce my dosage by half.
This summer, I started taking a mixture of honey and apple cider
vinegar and it has made a huge difference in my blood pressure. In
fact, I was gone all of this past week and when I checked my blood
pressure today, it was high. So I definitely believe the nasty
mixture is helping me. LOL
The pain is almost constant with headaches 5-7 days a week. Right
now, it is allergy season, so I have a headache (usually) daily for
6-8 weeks or until a killing frost. I have suffered allergy
headaches since high school, both spring and fall seasons. After the
allergy season was over, my headaches disappeared. In the summer of
2001, my headaches started early, so I decided to keep track of
them. Yikes is all I can say. The pain is usually around my forehead
and I often have sinus pain/congestion during allergy seasons and
sometimes other times as well. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being
horrible, my headaches are usually around a 5-7.
I went to the dentist a year ago and was diagnosed with TMJ and I
was SO excited because I thought I would find relief. I just
finished treatment with little success. The appliance does help
because it keeps me from grinding my teeth. I have always been a
teeth grinder. I also tried Chiropractor treatments and it does help
for a while and there were many days that my headaches would
instantly go away after an adjustment. My back is so much better now
though. The tension in my shoulder blades is thankfully gone
now. :):)
I am now thinking that I may have sleep apnea, migraines, or food
allergies. I used to have severe food allergies as a child to dairy
and flour. I was a poster child for healthy eating!!!!! Fruit was my
favorite food as a kid. I would eat cherries by the quart and cry
when my mom wouldn't let me have more. LOL
Any ideas or thoughts? I am open to ideas and suggestions. I try
not to take OTC very often unless I am desperate for pain relief.
This past week, I took Excedrin a couple of times and it helped
some. I will check this tomorrow and will be out of town for a while
starting Monday. Have a great night.

Shari

Hi Shari Have you found any relief yet for your headaches? I have an appointment with a new neurologist next month. I just hope there is something out there...
