Re: [chronicdailyheadache] Are chronic headaches the same as CDH

Chronic daily headache and chronic headache are the same beast. When I
started this group some time ago I had to choose Chronic Daily Headache
because many of the other possible names were already in use. Sometimes
these headaches are called a transformed migraine. Many of the things
you listed as triggers for your headaches are also triggers for migraine
headaches. Have the army docs tried any kind of prophylaxis? Many of the
older antidepressants at low dosages can help bring some relief. I've
had daily headaches for roughly 15 years. I didn't get much relief until
I found a pain doc who was willing to aggressively treat me with
narcotic pain killers. The headaches didn't disappear but they are much
more manageable than they were.

You might want to check out news:alt.support.headaches.migraine. Its a
very helpful support group. Just keep in mind that ashm, like many other
support groups has some occasional rabble rousers. Overall, I've found
the group very helpful especially if you are trying to find some
information on headaches.

[chronicdailyheadache] Are chronic headaches the same as CDH

I just joined this group today. I have been having daily headaches
for the last two years. I am in the Army and have have had headaches
only once in a while before I joined the Army. While in Korea I was
playing soccer one summer (Very Hot!) and I had an exacerbation that
lasted three days with a pain rating of 10. In the next 3 days the
headache lessened to about a 6, but for the last 27 months I have had
the headache and it only worsens by triggers like heat, cigarette
smoke or other fumes, hunger, among others. The Army doctors have
dona all they can without results. No medication has helped at all;
Imitrex, Midrin, Furinol, among others, haven't lessened the pain one
bit. I was supposed to go to Iraq, but I couldn't because of the
headaches. The Army Neurologist here at Ft. Hood, TX gave me a
diagnosis of Chronic headaches. What are the symptoms of Chronic
Daily Headaches? Is it the same as my diagnosis.

Isia, Have any of the Army doctors tried opioid therapy or would this be ruled out? I had CDHs for years until I found a pain doctor who, after reviewing what...
