Well I don't know why I did not find this group earlier. Maybe it
is because there appear to be no such groups like this in the UK. My
story (problem!) is like this;
Nearly 18 years ago I was on holiday with my parents. We were
staying in a large (by UK standards) caravan on a good site. My
parents were in the club when I went back to the caravan. I bent down
to take off my shoes and, unfortunately for me, banged my head very
hard on a solid wooden shelf as I stood back up. I was very dazed and
had to stumble to sit down. When my parents returned (1 to 2 hours
later) they found me still sitting with my head in my hands. I did
not go to hospital, but took paracetamol for a couple of days.
However I have a nice straight grove in my head, which is still
there. When we got back to our home I visited my local Doctor (GP)
who prescribed me Co-Dydramol and Ibuprofen. I took this for nearly 4
years, through a University Degree, which I graduated from. I had
regular visits (6 monthly) to my GP with the same medication as
always, also with 2 CT Scans - nothing found. It took me to suggest
to him that I have Physiotherapy to my neck. This appeared to work
for around 6 months then they came back - only worse. Physiotherapy
this time did not work. I have moved house, married, and changed
jobs, all with headaches. My new GP has tried me on all sorts of
medications - Amitriptyline, Indocid, Co-Dydramol, Diclofenac Sodium,
and others, all with no change. Since I have been on so many drugs
now I have problems with my erections (Erectile Dysfunction) so am
now on Viagra (at 34 years old). I have had 2 CT-Scans again with
nothing found. The GP says I have - Tension Headaches, Depression,
now Sinus Headaches. I have High Blood Pressure which is under
control with Istin and Enalapril Maleate. My Head-Pain is constantly
low to moderate however I now get bad hot sweats after all food, and
when my head gets BAD its a powerful pain in the left side of my
head. This pain is sometimes so great that it throbs so much that my
eyes start to throb with the pain. Nothing at all helps when its like
that. Just now its a very dull pressure throb at the back right of my
head. I work, although my pain has reduced my output in my job quite
a bit. I do not know what to do. Lots of the messages in here talk
about drugs that are not available over here. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE,
IF ANYBODY CAN HELP, I AM HERE, AND NOT GOING ANYWHERE FAST. Reply
direct if you like, to g1ovh at hotmail dot com where I shall try and
check e-mails weekly - pain forgiving. By the way its taken nearly 3
hours to type this so hope you are not bored. Thanks for a great
group. Neil.
