NORDIC EPISIOTOMY INSANITY?

Are Nordic OBGYNs - like OBGYNs in the United States - closing birth canals up
to 30% then surgically/fraudulently inferring (with episiotomies) that they are
doing everything possible to open birth canals?

And what's this? Episiotomies protect the perineum?

Katariina Laine, MD et al.*** write:

"[Higher episiotomy frequency in Finland may be one contributing reason [that]
t]he frequency of anal sphincter rupture was significantly higher in three
countries, Denmark 3.6%, Norway 4.1% and Sweden 4.2%, compared to Finland
0.6%...The classic method of protecting perineum is still in use in Finland."

Katariina,

Regardless the frequency of episiotomy in Nordic countries...

Regardless whether episiotomy protects the perineum...

Hopefully Nordic OBGYNs are not aping the birth position insanity of OBGYNs in
the United States....

By using semisitting and dorsal delivery^^^, OBGYNs in the United States are
senselessly closing birth canals up to 30% (most births).

^^^The simple birth-canal-closing biomechanics of semisitting and dorsal
delivery have been known since early last century. For the simple biomechanics
and radiographic and clinical cites from the medical literature, see Gastaldo
TD. Letter. BIRTH. 1992;19(4):230-1.

WORSE, OBGYNs are senselessly KEEPING birth canals closed up to 30% (keeping
women semsitting/dorsal) as they pull with forceps/vacuums (1 in 10 births).

Some babies are DYING and OBGYNs are LYING.

For the Four OB Lies (they are whoppers)...

KICKER #1: OBGYNs in the United States indirectly ADMIT ON VIDEO that they KNOW
they are routinely closing birth canals up to 30%: The American College of
Obstetricians and Gynecologists/ACOG's Shoulder Dystocia training video, ruled
exempt from the hearsay rule in Costantino v. Herzog, purports to show
obstetricians how to allow the birth canal to open maximally in the small number
of cases when babies' shoulders get stuck - which is the indirect admission that
obstetricians know they are routinely closing birth canals up to 30%.

KICKER #2: The version of McRoberts maneuver purported on the ACOG video to
allow the birth canal to open maximally, actually keeps the mother on her
sacrum, closing the pelvis with more force. For the simple birth-canal-closing
biomechanics of semsitting delivery - and for clinical and radiographic cites
from the medical literature - see again: Gastaldo TD. Letter. BIRTH.
1992;19(4):230-1. http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/toc/bir/19/4, FREE ACCESS.

Katariina, regardless the frequency of episiotomy in Nordic countries -
regardless whether episiotomy protects the perineum...

Hopefully Nordic OBGYNs are not aping OBGYNs in the United States.

Please help stop the massive birth-canal-closing/spinal manipulation crime of
OBGYNs wherever it is being committed.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Todd

PS SLOW DELIVERY OF THE INFANT HEAD...

Katariina, another article### by you reportedly indicates that,

"Slow delivery of the infant head is associated with decrease in anal sphinter
tears...The proportion of parturients with anal sphincter tears decreased
significantly during the study period from 4.03% (285 of 7,069) to 1.17% (42 of
3,577). A similar decrease was observed for instrumental deliveries (from 16.26%
to 4.90%) and noninstrumental deliveries (from 2.70% to 0.72%)..."

Pirhonen. Obstetrics and Gynecology 111:1053-1057, May 2008

JOUKO: Are Nordic OBGYNs aping OBGYNs in the United States? Are they closing
birth canals up to 30%?

I am sure mothers prefer the "extra" up to 30% - and so do babies - especially
when there is slow delivery of the infant head.

Please - if Nordic OBGYNs are closing birth canals up to 30% - encourage them to
stop.

Please help stop the massive birth-canal-closing/spinal manipulation crime of
OBGYNs wherever it is being committed.
