My family has been ripped apart by the state of Indiana. On February
2, 2006 I received a phone call from CPS telling me that they had my
daughter in custody and that I needed to get to their office
immediately. Once I arrived at their office I was kept waiting for an
hour or more before I was taken to an interview room and informed
that my daughter has made allegations that my husband had molested
her. I was not permitted to see or speak with my daughter. A case-
manager with CPS is the person who informed me. I asked to see my
daughter and was told that I would not be allowed to see her and that
if I didn't leave the building I would be arrested. I asked if my son
would be taken as well and was told no, but they came to my house the
following day and informed me that they were there to take my son as
well. Luckily my mother was with me and she got to keep my son. My
daughter is in foster care.
Then on March 8, 2006 my husband was picked up at the airport where
he was returning from a business trip and arrested on criminal
charges. He was able to call me from his cell phone and tell me where
he had been taken so that I could go see if I could get his personal
belongings before he was taken to jail. When I arrived a Detective
informed me that he saw a video of my daughter and that she didn't
bat an eye while she stated dates and times that the alleged molest
had occurred. He also said that "she told members of her church about
the allegations because she thought she could trust them".
To this date my daughter still has not told me anything about it. A
judge has ordered me not to discuss this case with my daughter. I
have unlimited "supervised" (my mother is allowed to supervise)
visits with my son and a 1 hour per week supervised visit with my
daughter (at a facility of the states choosing).
We have both been given public defenders since there is a civil case
against both of us and a criminal case against my husband. I feel as
though CPS, the Detective , and my court appointed attorney are
ganging up on me, because I am having a very hard time believing that
my husband could do this to our daughter. I have asked my attorney
about getting a copy of the video and she said I couldn't do that.
CPS has already lied to my face about my son being taken.
Also on January 31, 2006 my daughter was angry with us and threatened
my husband saying "I will get you for child abuse" We asked her "when
have we abused you?" She answered that we haven't.
My heart tells me that my husband didn't do this.
Please if there is any way that you can help us or send us to someone
else who can help us we would greatly appreciate it.
