I have three children Boys 18 and 14, girl 11. I am going through
a divorce after 19 years. I am a firefighter and work every third
day for 24 hours at which time the wife is supposed to be caring for
the 11 and 14 year olds.
She has agreed to me having custody two out of three days.
The problem is that she leaves the children alone all night. The 18
year old, although very mature, does not want the responsibility of
being a parent in her absence.
My last work day she took the 11 and 14 out to dinner but made them
sit at a separate table so she could sit with another friend and
talk. The kids finished dinner and then went and sat alone in the
car for "over an hour" while she remained inside. The boy said he
thought that she had consumed an alcoholic drink during dinner. She
is a former gastric bypass patient so she has a small stomach and
absorption is quicker.
She will not call them to check on them nor will she answer her cell
phone when they have called her.
Mother's Day being today, she was to care for them since I had to
work but she did not even come home to get them for church and when
she did she asked them "why didn't you go to church?"
I am sick about this and am trying to find out what to do.
