Blessings dear all,

I'm not going to pretend to be able to explain to you any secret esoteric
meaning to the life of Jesus.

However I would love you to join me in meditation on the themes the story of
Jesus life, death and Resurrection brings.

Compassion. Courage. Service. Sacrifice. Karma. Death. Resurrection. Union.

This story is very powerful. It has become at some point over the last 2000 yrs
the backbone of our Western cultural and spiritual morality. Irrespective of
what did or didn't happen, the story has immense power for unlocking our own
union with the Divine (in whatever form we understand spirituality to take). It
is the current Western spiritual archetype for meeting God.

Many modern seekers are angry at the Christian Church. This is very much like
the child and the parent relationship. As children we may need to find a
different way from our parents because along with the gift of life, our parents
pass on some of their karma and limitations too. If we need to break away to
find something more authentic for (in) us, we may find no other way but to do
it with force, with anger. If the story ends here (with breaking), we will
never be complete or completely at peace. To be at peace with ourselves we need
to be at peace with our parents (or at least what we carry from them inside us).
The same is true with our spiritual parents. For many of us Christianity is our
first taste of the spiritual world, spiritual teachings, in this lifetime. It's
important to make peace, even if we decide not to go back.

The Universality of the story of Jesus' life is still a great teaching. The
story of a hero who helped others find the Divine. Who rebelled against every
conformity which made no sense in the light of consciousness. Who was shunned
and ridiculed and didn't turn back, even when it meant giving up his body to
torture and death. Even when the thought of what was to come filled him with
terror and he knew those dearest to him would betray all he had done for them.
This is surrender. This is finding zero within. The Miracle of Jesus is not
raising the dead, turning water into wine or walking on waves. It is that a man
so in torment can surrender so completely. This is the ego of personal
identity, surrendered to Gods Will, and sacrificed on the cross of time, space
and karma. Jesus showed that even Death is no obstacle. That the greatest
sacrifice, the greatest surrender, leads to the greatest Union.

This story is worthy of meditation.

I hope you will join me.

Tues 7th April, 6.00-7.00pm Sukhmani Centre (yoga studio built at the back
entrance of 68 Humberstone Rd), Lovers Lane, Cambridge (www.sukhmani.co.uk).

If you feel moved to, please pass this on.

Love and light
