As a former vet, people often ask me about energy healing for animals. Sadly,
Veterinary and Medical training courses do not include any concept or techniques
about working with the body as an energy structure.
My own enlightenment about energy healing for animals, came from
attending a weekend workshop with Carmen Kolz (then Carmen Lawitzke), a former
intensive care nurse who trained in TT (Therapeutic Touch) just as it was
gaining a hold in the nursing profession. She went on to develop TT and
Reiki-style distance healing for animals. Sadly Carmen has since returned to the
U.S. and now works primarily as a specialist in canine rehabilitation and
fitness: http://www.canineunderwatertreadmill.com
I was fairly sceptical at the time I joined her course, although I had by then
(2001) become converted to the value of energy-healing
techniques for humans. With people any attentive care can be quite
uplifting, but could subtle energy work really have an impact on
animals?
Some of the animals we worked with during that weekend course were not pets used
to being "cuddled" or otherwise fawned upon. They included turkeys and other
poultry as well as farm animals (pigs, goats and a calf) and dogs, cats and
rabbits. Yet they all showed remarkable responses to an energy-healer's
approach.
Growing Literature

I see now that there is a growing literature on energy healing and
herbal medicine for pets...

Your Experience?
-----------------
If you have been involved in energy-healing for animals in any way, do please
post a sharing of your experience to this www.CHEAL.org group. Our co-moderator,
Kayce, is I know experienced in this topic and may like to add something? Also
our regular contributor, Jim Doyle, I know has experience of energy work with
animals.
If you are an energy healer for humans who is considering extending
your work to animals be very careful about the potential legal
implications - U.K. law protects animals very strongly - much more
strongly than humans! - against potential therapeutic abuse or neglect.
You can use energy, herbal or acupressure healing techniques freely on your own
animals as long as you are not damaging their health or
welfare, or neglecting to get them any mainstream veterinary healthcare that
they need.
If you work on other people's animals, you must not make therapeutic
diagnoses or promises unless you are a registered veterinary surgeon,
or working under the direction of one. Successful animal energy healers often
work in collaboration with local veterinary practices, who can check animals
over to confirm that there is no underlying or
accompanying problem that requires more mainstream veterinary medical
attention or further investigation.
