Practical Mysticism   Message List

Mysticism is a scholarly path of seeking spiritual truth through
personal experiences that directly access our "inner knowing",
intuition, or insight - as opposed to only following logical or
formally taught beliefs or doctrines. The 21st century is seeing an
upsurge in interest in the mystical branches of all the world's great
religions e.g. Gnostic Christianity, The Kabbalah, Sufism, Tantric &
Zen Buddhism, Yogic Hinduism and Kundalini Sikhism. Also the esoteric
practices and principles of the "New Age" and the "Lightworker"
movement based on The "Ascension theory" of the Mayan calendar.

The objectives of Mysticism are to deepen and enrich the human
experience of life and of our inner and outer spiritual connection
and resources. In particular to experience the "divine" dimension of
everyday life and the "oneness" of all creation.

A Course in Mysticism
---------------------
If you would like to deepen and enrich your own mystical experience,
you may be interested in a forthcoming evening course "Exploring
Mysticism" which begins April 23rd at Impington Village College (1
mile N of Cambridge UK).

The course is mainly practical and experiential but will include some
reviewing, discussion of the common themes and practices that are
found in the ancient traditions and modern movements concerned with
mysticism. There will be an emphasis on guided personal exploration
via sample practices involving meditation, mantric sounds, symbolic
gestures (mudras) and postures, sacred chanting, storytelling,
purification rituals and sacred circle dances.

We will also be working with some of the sacred poetry and prayers of
St. Francis of Assisi, Rumi, Lao Tsu, Hazrat Inayat Khan, Kahlil
Gibran and others, plus any personal mystical experiences that
participants might wish to share.

We will be taking particular note of health and safety considerations
for working with mystical experiences, including self-preparation,
grounding and clearing practices. The course is suitable for folks of
any religious persuasion, or none, no particular religion or
spiritual path is promoted in this course.

May your inner light expand as the outer light is expanding in the
run-up to the Spring Equinox next week.
