Dear Friends of Libra Aries Books,
Return of the Sunday Tea Party!
Next Sunday, 27th January, we will be hosting a Sunday Tea Party in
the bookshop, Mill Road, Cambridge, starting at 4pm. Special guest Gyrus will be
giving a short talk about his new book, "Archaeologies of Consciousness". This
will be followed by informal discussion over a cup of tea, plus a chance to buy
a signed copy of the book!
Gyrus created the acclaimed eclectic journals "Dreamflesh" and
"Towards 2012", and has been at the cutting edge of cognitive
archaeology for over a decade. Archaeologies of Consciousness is a
collection of his essays on prehistory, shamanism, rock art, and
sacred sites, pushing towards an understanding of what prehistoric
people believed. Containing previously unpublished material, and some
hard-to-find treasures, and with a foreword by the inimitable Julian
Cope, this lavishly produced tome is a mine of inspiration for
independent-minded exploration of humanity's early days.
Scholars keen to learn more about how personal experience can inform
research, magicians concerned to infuse their imagination with
academic rigour, anyone interested in open-minded approaches to
prehistory... all are welcome!
