CHEAL is a non-political sharing group, however the persistent
flagrant abuse of human rights and the severity of the current crisis
in Burma seem to warrant us making an exception to our non-political
content, in order to offer to CHEAL members a chance to contribute to
the worldwide movement to put pressure on the SE Asian countries that
support the military dictatorship in Burma.

The military dictatorship is unlikely to respond directly to calls to
restore basic human rights and halt the violence and murder being
used against peaceful demonstrators. However, the dictatorship is
only able to continue because certain neighbours give it credibility
and supply it with weapons to use against its own people.

You can sign a petition right now, calling on Burma's powerful ally
China and the UN security council to step in and pressure Burma's
rulers to stop the killing. The petition has exploded to over 500,000
signatures in a few days and is being advertised in newspapers around
the world, delivered to the UN secretary general, and broadcast to
the Burmese people by radio. The aim is to get 1 million signatures
