You may indeed be "hitting the nail on the head" here, Alicia. There
is quite a bit more to this story than I have as yet divulged, e.g....

Kathryn, one of the custodians of the Llywelyn tower, showed me some
old paintings of this historic site (which goes back to Roman times
and probably Bronze Age too) including one of a famous battle in
which the forces of the Welsh royalty repulsed an attack by superior
armed forces of the English royalty.

As I viewed this spectacular old oil painting I felt an acute
abdominal pain and had a sense that I was there at that battle - on
the Welsh side (I do have a Welsh surname as it happens) and that I
was wounded in the abdomen, but survived. After meeting me, Kathryn
has also had a sense (a recurring vision actually) that I was there
in the 13th century.

I like to tread cautiously with these psychic experiences - they can
so easily become tainted by wishful thinking, or seized upon by the
ego, to prop up its intrinsic insecurity, so I would still like to
have some clearer understanding of the currently incomprehensible
