Personally I feel that Reiki Healing for your car is a little OTT,
but then if Uri Geller can bend spoons, who knows??

I once used a hazel dowsing fork to diagnose an unfixable cooling
system problem in a car broken down by the roadside. I was rather
astonished that the car-owning couple went along with this bizarre
(as far as I know the AA are still not drawing on this ancient
technology!) approach to car mechanics.

The enlightened open-mindedness (or was it desperation?) of the
poverty-stricken owners (not only could they not afford a reliable
car, but they could not afford road services membership either) was
rewarded by me giving them and their tired children (it was almost
midnight) a lift back to their home, almost an hour's drive away.

On the journey I got to learn that they had recently been through
much suffering and hardship and major relationship loss, but had at
last found each other and the chance to make a fresh start. When we
reached their small rented house they gave me a cup a tea and the
mother told me more about the physical disability problem her little
girl (whose name I recall was Jasmine) was afflicted with. It is
always so sad when a young life becomes blighted in a way that
encroaches on the "normality" and functionality that all children
crave.

As I rose to leave, the little girl (now in bed) called for me to
kiss her goodnight. As I kissed her I pressed into her hand a
special crystal I had been "charging up" over the previous few days,
by visiting sacred sites in N. Wales and dipping in their sacred
wells and waterfalls. It was a very special smoky quartz crystal

that I had acquired in mystical circumstances a few days earlier,
and that I desperately wanted for my own healing as I worked through
some prolonged major trauma at work.

Giving up the treasured crystal - which I felt I so desperately
needed for my own healing - for someone else's benefit, actually
became a part of my own healing - it allowed me to rise above
the "raw deal" I had been going through, and see a bigger vision of
myself and others. As I left, the young man shook my hand warmly and
the grateful mother hugged and kissed me. For some days I had been
on a lonely pilgrimage a long way from home and in unfamiliar
surroundings, so this, albeit brief, moment of exchanging human
warmth was much appreciated.

I was always curious to know if my hazel rod breakdown diagnosis was
correct, and if the struggling young family's life improved with the
help of the crystal - my search for evidence-based truth is as
important to me as ever. I never did get to know the factual answers
to these questions, but I still feel now, ten years later, that
there was "magic in the air" that night for all concerned. As some
would say: "God works in mysterious ways!". Even when we are
struggling ourselves, we have the power to be so much support to
each other.

Energy Healing on DVD

The "minor aside" mention of using Reiki to "heal" your car or
computer, does not detract from the fact that I have just been
watching the best DVD I have yet seen on "Energy Healing".

This DVD comes from "New World Music" stable, so one would expect it
to be of the highest quality, it has a good pedigree.

The DVD is "full to the brim" with clear and succinct explanations
of the typical "energy and intention" healing principles and
practices (with particular reference to Dr. Usui's "Reiki"
formulation thereof).
It includes good footage of:

* self-preparation for energy healing work
* "hands-on" and "hands-off" (auric field) energy healing
* chakra locations, colours and healing
* working with recipients in lying and sitting positions
* issues around charging or not charging for Reiki healing
* finding a suitable Reiki practitioner
* a Reiki-based self-healing meditation
* Reiki for animals, food, flowers, growing vegetables
* "Distant" Reiki healing principles and techniques
* charging stones and crystals with Reiki energy
* tracks of relaxing and healing music
* aura photographs (Interference Photography) - before and after
healing

A Miracle at a Wedding Feast!

The section on healing the injured leg of a child reminded me of an
incident at a wedding reception I attended, where an overweight
lady "went over" on her ankle, such that she could not put it to the
floor and it rapidly swelled.

Coincidentally (or God's Mysterious Ways again!) I was discussing
energy healing with two NFSH healers nearby, and so in no time at
all, the lady's leg was up on the table - amongst the beer, wine and
champagne glasses - with 3 pairs of hands on it!

Believe it or not I actually hate these bizarre "public spectacle"
healing performances! - however, they do bring a little "colour"
into the otherwise drab (I assume) lives of the open-mouthed
bystanders! On this occasion, the "healer preparation" power of a
couple of glasses of champers did not come amiss!

My evidence-based discriminatory quest was reasonably rewarded on
this occasion because after this potent "tri-healing session" the
ankle could weight-bear and within a few hours the swelling had
subsided and next day she was walking normally - well beyond what
one would normally expect after this kind of injury.

To return to the DVD, after all the sections of demos by Ian Welch,
there is a sensible and practical discussion of Reiki healing
principles and practice led by Reiki Master (shouldn't it
be "Mistress"? - or am I being naive and out-of-date again? - don't
answer that! <grin>) Judith Clough.
