Exploring The Mind - Beyond the Brain!   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #559 of 1056 |
20th century science, particularly neuroscience, has led us to
believe that the MIND is synonymous with, and located in, the
PHYSICAL BRAIN, even though. for thousands of years, mystics,
prophets, sages, psychics and meditators have discerned from their
own experience that our "mind" can connect to resources, memories,
paranormal phenomena, near-death experiences and creative powers
that seem to extend well beyond what could be accommodated within
the neurones of the brain.

Dr. Rupert Sheldrake is a scientist who has pioneered meticulous
scientific research into intuitive and paranormal phenomena. He did
his original PhD work in Cambridge UK and will be returning here on
October 8th to deliver a talk entitled "The Mind Beyond the Brain"
at St. Edward's Church in the city centre.
Location details for St. Edwards:
http://www.sunflower-health.com/admin/maps/stedwards.htm

You can see an overview of Dr. Sheldrake's key areas of scientific
exploration/publication (intuitive and psychic phenomena) here:
http://www.stress-counselling.co.uk/sheldrake.htm

His St. Edward's talk forms part of a new monthly Christian service
called "Odyssey" at 11am on Sundays, which explores connections
between spirituality and the challenges of the contemporary world.

I will miss Rupert's talk this year, because I will be at a N. Wales
retreat centre that weekend, but I have heard him speak on a number
of occasions and he is always thought -provoking.

Would You Like to Test Dr. Sheldrake's Theories for Yourself?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I will be re-running the Swavesey College Practical (1 day) Workshop
on Developing and Testing Your Intuitive Skills on 18th November.
Swavesey is 5 miles from Cambridge (up the A14) and accessible by
bus from Drummer St. in Cambridge. More information is available
here:
http://www.sunflower-health.com/workshops.htm or call me on 01954-
789966.

How tuned into your natural "Gut Feeling" or "6th sense" instinct of
intuition are you?

How often do you use it?

Do you trust your gut feelings implicitly, or do you run the
essential "checks and balances" that can distinguish genuine
intuition from "wishful thinking", projection and "wild imagination"?

Do you know how to combine intuitive skills with "dowsing" the
unconscious mind for guidance?

In this entertaining workshop, based on the scientific research of
Dr. Sheldrake, amongst other sources, you can learn a variety of
simple, magical and enjoyable techniques to increase your skill to
tune into your natural intuitive gift of "gut feeling".

Empowered intuition helps us to navigate better the potentially
stressful situations that arise at home or at work. We can become
more in tune with how people feel and what they really "need", as
opposed to what they say they "want".

Intuition is especially important in "novel" social or work
situations, where we lack experience, or feel "like a fish out of
water". Intuitive skills are especially magnificent in situations
where people are seeking to exploit, manipulate, deceive, con or
pressurise us into falling in with their personal agenda rather than
looking after our own best interests. Intuition is also a key
ingredient in enhancing emotional or physical intimacy.

This is of course the harvest season, so I would like to take this
opportunity to wish all CHEAL members a good harvest of their
efforts over the 2006 "planting and growing" season!

We "reap what we sow" of course, which means that even on those
occasions when our "hoped-for harvest" is below
expectations/demands/needs, we can always at least comfort ourselves
with the rich harvest of learning opportunities that even a poor
harvest can bring!

Either way, hope you have a great harvest this week!

Best wishes

Mike
