According to the "Sustainable Food" website, around a billion people
in the world are starving, while another billion are overweight!
This comprehensive website on topical organic and sustainability
food issues advises that in producing and consuming food we need to
consume less resources, pollute less, treat people better and gain
reasonable returns on investment.
The website includes:
a) "Recipe for Success"
Our first response is to change our individual eating habits, only
to find it is difficult to choose from a whole mix of issues. We
don't have enough time and money to work out confusing messages.
e.g. Fish is good for our health, but should we stop eating it
because many of our seas are over-fished? And how do you buy
bananas?
b) Do you eat balanced meals?
The Sustainable Food Guide (Free) sets out the issues that need to
be tackled to make food "more sustainable". The Guide suggests what
you can do to continually improve food provision, by adapting a
quality system and applying it to provide 'quality' food provision.
There is much to learn and many skills to develop; from basic
cooking and healthy food provision to tracing environmental and
ethical impacts miles away. The SF Guide develops vocational
learning standards.
