Thanks to all for such an interesting thread.
I lived with someone for 7 years who had Schizophrenia (or something of a
similar nature..... no one could ever decide on a diagnosis). He was a Cambridge
graduate with a starred first. It was tragic to observe his life crumbling with
the brain chemistry being so disturbed.... the paranoia and the fear. He could
run circles around the doctors often displaying sensibility and lucidity and
then madness when they left the room. Many of these illnesses seem to be
treatable with diet but my goodness... the sufferer needs to be compliant
otherwise it is a pointless painful task to try to get resolutions.
Stanislav Groff considers it a spiritual opening but I am not so sure. I would
like to see what others think about this.
