Hi all,
I was not able to go to the Hostility and Agression Workshop this past
weekend in Cambridge(bit of a commute), but I did study the workbook and
found many helpful things in it. The beginning of the book asks a bunch of
questions, I think designed to put one in touch with how they feel about these
issues. Being a product of this age, I found myself wanting a score that told
me how I compared with everyone else! I was wondering if others who did
make it to the workshop felt this also, or maybe I need a competitiveness/self
justification workshop? <G>
One of the things I liked really well was the Autogenic Breathing exercise.
First, I find it very relaxing and effective, and it is a tangible tool, rather
than
something where I have to work to adjust my attitude on an ongoing basis. I
do try to do that, but sometimes in a momentary lapse, I forget and just want to
bop someone over the head. (You may be able to see why I thought it
important to get the workbook).
I also use conditioned relaxation on myself (as I know some others here do
also ;>).
Would love to hear what others have tried that works for them. One of my
challenges is that I have a quick tongue which is multifunctional and can be
use to slice and dice as well as to speak (no additional cost involved...) so I
have been trying to develop the ability to filter what I say - just pass the
words
by my brain BEFORE they come out my mouth. I am making some small
progress here.
Best,
Kayce
