Healing Horses - Scotlands Horse Whisperer!   Message List

The U.S. novel and film "The Horse Whisperer" [by the way now available on DVD
for as little as 2 pounds:
http://www.Amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005B4ND/sunflowerheal-21]
aroused massive interest in new ways of communicating with and healing our
equine friends.

Did you know that the UK has its own "home-grown" Horse Whisperer called Peter
Neilson who has soared to fame on the back of his real-life story "NOD WHISPERS"
http://www.Amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1418480541/sunflowerheal-21

This is a "Black Beauty" type story of "Nod", a mentally traumatised horse,
unable to behave normally. The other essential character in this dramatic story
is Peter Neilson, a Scotsman, a trained engineer and former farmer, whose
[formerly very conventional] life always included horses and dogs.

[It's interesting that our CHEAL member and local energy healer, Jim Doyle, also
comes from an engineering background!]

Neilson was also a professional horseman and retired Joint Master of the Duke of
Buccleuch's Hunt in the Scottish Borders and a trainer and healer of horses.
Peter's work has been the subject of great Media attention in recent years. His
work has been featured on BBC, Channel 4, Border TV as well as newspapers and
magazines.

What People Say About "NOD WHISPERS"
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"Wow, I was hooked from the beginning, I've a bit of a problem horse and
naturally have tried everything to try and solve the problems. This amazing book
gave me a whole new understanding to horses' minds. It talks about the horses'
past life and how this can effects problems in the present. In Peter's own
unique story, he explains how he and his horses overcame problems like bolting
to have the perfect safer horse. 123 pages of pure magic, a definite read for
ALL horse owners. Believe me if you are open-minded, this is the book for you.
Good one Peter!" [Emma 15, Scottish Borders]

"The story of the healing of the horse Nod will bring tears to the eyes and
resonate with animal lovers the world over. They are people who long to be able
to `talk' to their animals and better understand what they need, in order to
perform their tasks and to better integrate with their human and animal
companions. Anyone who was touched by the film The Horse Whisperer based on the
novel by Nicholas Evans will be aware of the magical link between man and horse
– but here is a true story that illustrates what can be achieved to help our
equine friends. Nothing had prepared Peter for the journey he was to undertake
with his horse Nod to heal his physical and more importantly the mental
traumas of this deeply unhappy horse. Nor the things he was to learn about his
own abilities to participate in that healing process, including the ability to
`talk' to Nod and get answers back from him. And that this would involve delving
into previous lives to effect a cure for problems in this one. As a practical,
atheist animal lover currently suffering ill health, I have read various
self-healing and "spooky books" that have affected or moved me not at all. I got
to know Peter through an animal problem with which he helped enormously, and he
told me about his book, which,
being a horse owner, I bought immediately. I think it was the most moving book,
better even than "The Incredible Journey". I know for a fact, as I passed the
book to others to read,
that it moved some to tears, especially Nod's end, which I personally thought
was dignified and befitting the horse. I just found it inspirational to know
that animals, beloved or otherwise in the past, come back through many lives.
The amazing thing to me was that a down to earth, practical horseman like Peter
should be led to his incredible gift in his middle years. Life works in
mysterious ways. I don't want to say too much about this remarkable book which
might
spoil others' pleasure in reading it for themselves; but so many horses found
their way to Peter because that was where they were meant to be and it was their
will to reach him and his gift that he recognised their need. Peter has been a
source of support to me in many animal related matters." [Suky Garlick,
Cambridgeshire]

"In need of an additional horse Peter set sail on a tour of potential
candidates, in Yorkshire he met Nod, who seemed ideal though with a few obvious
physical problems. Finding himself in Cheshire about to write a cheque for a
different horse, Peter received a loud and clear message that the brown horse in
Yorkshire would really like to come home with him. And so it was that Nod came
to the borders to fulfil an onerous job. But it was soon apparent that he was
totally unsuitable to this job or for anything else being a danger to both
himself and Peter; and really ought to be put to sleep. His physical problems,
including a major crisis requiring a spell at the renowned `Dick Vet' horse
hospital [Veterinary School of Edinburgh University], were initially solved by
a combination of conventional and complimentary methods. However, his major
problems were clearly psychological – he had two paces – walk or flat out. He
was completely unable to behave or respond normally and beyond walking was only
able to bolt at full speed with his brain dislocated. Nod had such a hold over
Peter that he was determined to find out what was troubling his lovely horse.
Peter embarked on a journey which incorporated therapies he had never heard of
and led him to people like Kate Solisti, an American `animal communicator' as
well as Morag MacDonald-Worsley a spiritual healer in Scotland. It was a world
so far removed from his well-ordered life that he questioned the wisdom of
embracing such extraordinary thinking and yet he knew he had to do something.
Morag taught him all she knew and left him to battle on his own as the answer
lay in his own hands. The book introduces us to other horses, which choose to
come to be part of Peter's team and so to live with and be healed by him. Like
Morris who refused to go into the lorry because of a dreadful experience in a
lorry when he once lived in Mexico – Cats who had rescued her sister from a fire
and needed to be healed of the guilt of leaving the other horses to burn to
death."

"Absolutely fascinating. This book sucked me in from the beginning! Don't expect
a Monty Roberts type of horse communication though – this requires a much more
open mind! It is the story of this man's passion for helping his horse overcome
huge problems through many ways – some, as he admits, seem unbelievable at
first. Peter learns to `talk' to animals through telepathy, and sees pictures of
their problems in his mind, both in this life and in their past lives. Through
these new learned abilities, Peter releases Nod's problems and also helps many
other horses along the way. And yes, it all seems a little bit far-fetched and
it's not something that everyone would be able to do but the results speak for
themselves. This man has helped turn many horses' lives around, and saved
others, destined for destruction. This book is well worth the read – read it and
decide for yourself! It touched me in ways I did not expect, even although I
knew of Peter's gifts before." [Mrs J M Noble, Bonnyrigg, Midlothian]
