Hello Mike,
Thanks for your thoughts. You raise some interesting points about
self-esteem. When we live among so many people who are so extremely
self-centred and egocentric it is very hard to pull ourselves above it.
Admittedly, paying undue attention to negative theories is a bad thing even if
the theory is true. Positive thoughts really do seem to bring about positive
results but ignoring warning signs and not taking appropriate action is also
unhealthy.
When I first heard about the man-on-the-moon conspiracy theory I
dismissed it. The second time got me thinking, because the danger to the
astronauts from radiation from the Sun is real as far as I can tell. I looked
into it more and only this one point held any credibility for me so I decided
that on balance the theory was likely to be false. With the 40th anniversary on
us I am still waiting for a good answer about the radiation but the interviews
with the astronauts are interesting and convincing.
The trouble as I see it is that some other conspiracy theories hold far more
weight. There is so much dishonesty in the world today it is very hard to know
who to believe. There are those who claim global warming is a conspiracy. It is
a subject I know very well and the level of deception in the literature about it
really gets me agitated. That is why I put together my website;
http://www.copcutt.me.uk
What I see as the underlying problem is the low level of integrity that is
tolerated by society. I would love to see more people working harder to accept
the world the way it really is and to be honest about it.
I do not think it is so much the internet but the lack of disapproval of lying
that is the cause of the spread of false conspiracy theories. However, I suspect
few, or none, are totally false and the internet has allowed the spread of the
valid information along with the invalid.
I am trying to plan for the possibility of me being told to get the flu vaccine.
I do not approve and I do not want it. How hard will I resist? It is a violation
of our God given Free Will to be forced to take these things. One single person
who was not already on death's door dies from it and the government suddenly
pumps many millions into a suspect program! Something dodgy is going on. What
about the thousands who die from MRSA? The last thing I want to do is pull
anyone down with these thoughts. My motivation is to motivate those who believe
in positive thinking, in all its variations, to get more active about bringing
in the light.
Regards,
Robert.
