RE: [cerebralpalsy] Delayed emptying, anyone else dealing with this?

Hi Castle,

My daughter Di was on Reglan when she was younger to help with delayed emptying.  It is my understanding that the delay caused food to remain in the stomach after the time when it should have been digested.  Therefore, when you feed them again, they have too much food in them, and thus the vomiting.  I think I remember that your daughter has a g-tube, with Di, I would attach the tube to her button and pull the plunger back to see if there was anything still in her stomach.  That way we could check if her food was properly digesting.

Good Luck.

Subject: [cerebralpalsy] Delayed emptying, anyone else dealing with this?

Well Cayden had her upper GI yesterday and the fundo looks good and is
intact....which completely suprised me with the amount of refux and
vomiting she has had lately.....but she has delayed
emptying...apparently pretty severe.... which we had already figured
she had...but I did not think the delayed emptying had anything to do
with her vomiting, do any of you know if the vomiting could be due to
the delayed emptying of her stomach?

Also can any of you tell me what has helped your child with delayed
emptying? Are there any medicines that work well for it?

Any input would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks,
Castle

Yes Cayden has a g-tube... I did not think she could take Reglan because she has seizures? Or is it okay to take it if you have seizures? Castle ... delayed ...

I am not sure about the seizure issue. Di did not have seizures when she took it. ________________________________ From: cerebralpalsy@yahoogroups.com ...
