Thanks for sharing the picture. I will put it in my Di file of things we would like to try out. Di has a v-tech system so I will try her with the joystick and see how it goes.
Thanks again.
Isha. Mom to Di. 5. Who now can tell you both verbally and by signing how old she is.

Hi Isha,
When my son was 3, one of his therapist let him try a power wheelchair. It took a while for him to figure out that it was a way to get around, not just a toy. But once he did he did great. He has quad spastic CP. and can not use his hands to feed himself. But he is a whiz at his powerchair and using the mouse on the computer. If he really wants something he will learn to do it. If it is not important to him, he is not interested in trying. (Very frustrating for me). My cousin is a computer whiz and built a circuit board that causes the motors to steer it in the direction that the joy stick is pointed. We put a single wheel on the front (The big front tires are not really on the ground). The truck worked great in the dirt as well as the concrete.
I have attached a picture....Good luck with your daughter.

Cyndi,That is such a generous offer. My daughter does not know how to work a joystick, so she would not be able to use. Her grandpa bought her cousin one of those type cars for Christmas, and she rides around with him. They both get a kick out of "driving." I hope you are able to find a good home for the truck. If you don't mind, can you take a picture of the modifications. It would be something I would love to do for my daughter when she is able to benefit. Also, how did you teach your son to work a joystick?Thanks.Isha. Mom to Di. 5. QCP. Starting kindergarten in the fall.

Hi All,I have a Big Foot truck that my husband and cousin modified for our son with Quad CP. Instead of a steering wheel, it has a joy stick, which controls both the steering and the gas pedal. It also has a tall back with a strap, so they are strapped in securely. (It does need new batteries). My son loved it and he used it for about 3 years before he outgrew it. It would probably fit a child from 3-7 years old. I would like to give it to anyone that thinks they can use it for their child. Nothing made my son happier then being able to drive in our driveway like the other kids. I live in Southern California and am willing to ship it. But, you will have to help with the shipping.I just would like to see some other child experience the fun my son did. Thanks,Cyndi Di Mauro----- Original Message -----Sent: Sunday, April 01, 2007 2:27 AMSubject: == SPAM == [cerebralpalsy] File - Roll Call-Check In
How is everyone doing? Please take a second to give us a update. Let us know if there are any new milestones your child has reached. Anything new in your life. Also remember to post a link to your personal website.
Thanks!
