I havn't been online in so long that my Yahoo account shut down, so
I hope this works now.
I am mom to Topher who is 3 1/2, dx with spastic quad. CP. He is
now in preschool 5 mornings a week and that is going GREAT! He has
a wonderful one to one aide and she has made all the differance in
the world. He is an amazing boy and we love him very much. He had
his fundoplycation redone in October and that went well. He has had
pneumonia 8 times this year and we now have O2 in the home for when
he gets any type of respiratory illness. He will be having his
hamstrings and adductors lengthened in early 2007. Even with all
this he has kept his wonderful sense of humor. He has been blessed
with a huge vocabulary and the whit to go with it.
I am now also mom to Gilbert. He is 5 1/2 and has myotropic
Dystrophy. It is a form of muscular dystrophy that is non-
progressive. So, much like CP he will make progress as he learns to
work with his disability. He is non-verbal and is completely G-tube
fed. He looks alot like Topher and most people think they are
actually biological brothers. Gilbert can walk if he is holding
your hands or with his walker and this has given Topher an even
stronger desire to walk. It is great to watch the two boys and see
what each of them can share and teach the other. My older children
are excited about there new brother. We can't wait to share the
holidays with our extended families. Hope all your holidays go well.
