I have loaded some pictures of my son. We go get our second botox
injections Monday and then his physical therapy is getting moved to 3
times a week. Any suggestions on potty training I feel like I have hit
a brick wall with it and dont know what to do now.

-Misty I found that with my little boy we kicked the pepe thing
first--Is he acting as if he is ready and telling you? I know we
thoughthe would never learn the poop thing but come to find out he
was afrail of the BIG seat so we got him one of those padded ones
that fit in the inside of the ring and he was broke praise God.Do
you still use pullups or diapers?we also had to go to big boy
underwear because he would tell us get me a pullup then go poop in
it so we got rid of them and it worked. Good luck on your mighty
adventure in toilet training lol. Just know you are going where many
have gone before.....lol sorry couldnt help myself ..let me know how
things are going,In

He does tell me when he has to go.  He is still in pullups and I have tried underwear and they dont seem to help him.  He will go potty in them and then tell me that he is wet.  I have tried talking to him about it and explaining that he needs to potty in the toilet and he will a couple of times then he just seems to forget and go.

Does he have a favorite cartoon character?  That is how I got my son to go in the potty all the time.  He LOVED Thomas the Tank Engine and I found some underwear with Thomas on it, and told him that Thomas didn't like getting wet and so he had to keep him dry and remember to tell mommy when to go to the potty, I would have to say that within 2 days, he was using the potty ALL the time.  Just a suggestion.

Bridget you I know with Moriah it was harder to not know than to know
whats wrong.Once you know you can deal with what ever you have to and
know that you at least have a starting point.I know as a parent it is
such a feeling of helpness not being to help your child. But once you
know what your dealing with it is like it impowers you to start
finding the awnsers that will help your child. Does that make since??
At least it did with me.When we got Moriah they said she would be very
handicaped mentally and physically, that she would never go past her 6
week age in either.Mentally she is above target and phyiscally she has
mild cp and epilisy she is walikng taking independent steps and is
talking a blue streek.she copies her brother whos 3 he told me the
other dat i"m not doing nothing and now her favorate saying is I
nothing when I call her.She was in trouble the other day and I told
her dont make me count young lady and i started with one. and she
finished two free foor fi. I almost fell over. You know Doctors are
wonderful to have but they arent God and they dont know everything. So
keep a stiff upper lip and know there are people out here praying for
you and Preston. A pastor friend of mine use to say EVERY THANG IS
GONA BE OK!!! Even if it doesnt seem so at the time...

So good to hear from you! I miss all the post we use to have on here!
Glad to hear Ms. Moriah is doing great.
James is doing really well right now. He started Kindergarten on Aug.
13th. Real tear jerker for me! He is loving it, he is in an inclusive
classroom during the morning hours and for the academics he goes to the
resource(spec. ed) room in the afternoon. He is really working hard on
his walking, he's doing super on his arm cruthces! Also, I can feel
God working and I can just feel that he will soon walk independtly, he
actually has taken a step by himself, just one, but I'll take it!
The SDR surgery was absolutely a God send for James. It has made such
a difference in his quality of life. He also recently had strabismus
surgery on his left eye, and Praise God that went well.
I am learning what alot of parents of special needs children have said
about the school, we really have to be our child's advocate! After his
2nd day of kindergarten the teachers assistant in his room made a
comment to me that James needs might be better met in the resource room
all day. I just politely told her that he needed to be given ample
opportunity to prove himself and adjust to the classroom. UGH. The
first week of school was hard! But, after speaking to the principal,
teacher and the central school office people we have things all clear
now!
Hope everyone is doing well! It's been forever since I posted, so
sorry this is so long!
Have a great Labor Day!
Sharon
