Re: hi all

-Thanks for all the advice Michelle you gave me a lot to think
about. Moriah also had a shunt but they revised it(removed ) it a
year ago. she had her first seizure in june it was just a blood
curdling scream then she was unconscous, it lasted quite a while. we
didnt know what was wrong so we called the ambulance. That was a
ride from h--- Im a emt-i one step below a paramedic so im not
stupid Moriah started having full blown seizures on the way to the
hospital and the medic said no no she is just cold.. she wasn't
breathing by the time we got her to the hospital and had to stay on
life support for 12 hours till they got her back. but she was fine
and there hasnt been another since Tue this week but it was classic
shaking foaming etc.since we didnt know how long she had been that
way we gave her diastat she stooped seizing very quickly after then
went into a deep sleep.Im was affraid if it happened during the nite
she might smother or choke. the day before we had spent the day at
the lake and she played real hard she is walking and wants to run so
Im sure she was tired. When we got home my husband always gives her
her meds when he isnt working and i was not feeling well and layed
down.she went to sleep and when my husband got home fron his meeting
he ask if i gave her her meds i didnt she was sheeping so we didnt
wake her. and then she seized the next morning the doc said it might
have caused it but it could been alot of things combined. we've done
pretty well it was 8 months since the first one. she takes
tegretol.they think the seizures may have been from her being
exposed to so many drugs invetro or the prematurity.Only God knows
for sure. He brought her to us and it really doesnt matter if she
was sleeping in her room or i was holding her if he decides to take
her he will.so i've told God when I go to bed its your shift Lord
and go to bed and have been able to sleep.I have a TV moniture on
her bed i can both see and hear her. but she didnt make a sound
this time or we were so asleep to hear. You know opening her door in
the morning has been real hard not knowing what to expect. All that
has been there has been my beautiful baby with big smiles ready to
start her day Praise God.. Moms can be so silly cant we ... It is
such a comfort to hav moms to talk to that have been thru the same
stuff Thanks and God Bless-- In

bed, the first one was when I first really discovered he was having
them, I was sleeping in his bed with him the weeks following his G
tube placement, and woke up to him twitching, I too freaked out.
The last one he had at night was just the day after Christmas, and I
knew he was having one because this time it came with screaming
which obviously got my attention, I had to call 911 because it was
going too long, and it was a different seizure then before, with the
screaming and all, I thought it might have something to do with his
Shunt for his hydrocephalus, but it was determined it was a siezure
due to all the excitement at christmas. Kids tend to have more
siezure activity when they are tired or have had a busy day that is
why they get them at night and that is why when you have an eeg they
like them to be sleep deprived for the test. Have they put her on
any meds? Cody now has to have Trileptal twice a
> day and we have diastat for emergencies. If you are really
worried about it, you could ask them to do a sleep study with an
EEG. But I wouldn't really worry too much about choking unless she
has something in her mouth, they can't choke on their spit, but if
she vomits after, then that can be a problem, because sometimes they
go into a deep sleep after a big siezure, Cody does, maybe you could
buy one of those new high tech baby monitors that have the sensors
on them, so if she starts moving rapidly the alarm could go off I
don't know if that will work or not, I know that they are suppose to
alert if a baby stops breathing, could be worth some research with
other kinds of bed monitors I know the exist for epileptics but I
don't know how expensive they are or anything. But I would start
with requesting a sleep study, and if your doc doesn't cooperate I
would get a second opinion, does she see a neurologist? That's
where I would start. Otherwise you could end up like me
> thinking it is no big deal and months down the road she has
mulitple tics one after another and boom free ticket to an ambulance
and a hospital stay. Hope that helps, keep us posted. Michelle
