Hello to all! My name is Christy and I need some information about
cerebral palsy. My son EJ is about to be 6 years old. He has had
a "developmental delay" since he first started tryingf to move and
talk. They have done MRIs and Xrays and they could never figure out
what the problem was. My doctors seem to take a "wait and see"
attitude. My son has trouble with balance, speech, fine motor, and
large motor skills. NOW his LD and Speech teachers at school ask if
the doctors have ever mentioned cerebral palsy. They mentioned it a
long time ago, but the MRI showed nothing so they threw it out. The LD
teacher has a daughter with cerebral palsy and says that EJ exhibits
all of the same symptoms as her daughter. Can cerebral palsy be mild?
Her daughters also did not show up on the MRI. Is it possible that he
could be diagnosed with this after 6 years? Basically, he cannot write
correctly, use scissors, falls down a lot, is pigeon-toed, and his
speech is often not understood by other people besides his family. His
birth history is not a good one. He was without oxygen for 2 minutes
after he was out and has meconium aspiration and the cord was wrapped
around twice tightly. Any insight would be great!
