There has been some confusion on this email. It is blanketly sent to all
members and pending members to remind everyone to complete the necessary fields
in your profile (as required by Yahoo).
============================================================================
Yahoo requires that everyone keeps their age, location, and gender in their
profile.
Please see the instructions below for figuring out how to comply to this:
Yahoo has dictated that all members of any group must have a
completed profile with NAME, AGE, GENDER, LOCATION, your City is fine, not a
address.. Please do state your status or licensing in occupation in order to
protect the group from possible deletion. Please update your profile as follows:
1. Open your Yahoo Session
2. Go to http://members.yahoo.com
3. Click on "VIEW MY PROFILES" at top of page.
4. Click "EDIT" on the row that shows your Yahoo ID
5. Click "EDIT PROFILE INFORMATION"

You are invited to receive deeksha
each Saturday at 6:45pm, beginning May 6.
Join Laila Meridian Grace and others who will share this experience of the
Divine with you.
This opportunity will be available at the Eternal Way Center, 1122 South Lamar
Blvd.
The cost for the event is a sliding scale of $18 to $56.
Please see the explanatory information below for more details
about deeksha and those offering this experience:
Dear friends, beloved's, clients and family, I believe that within each of us is
a longing to
experience a causeless state of love and peace….a deep connectedness to the
divine…
Oneness.
Beginnning on May 6th, 2006, we would like to invite you to join us on Saturday
evenings
at 6:45 to come and experience Deeksha at the Eternal Way Center, located at
1122 South
Lamar Blvd (on the south corner of the Alamo Drafthouse South, in the same
shopping
center as Heart of Texas Music and Whole Life Books). We have a sliding scale
from $18 to
$56, your choice. For those who can not afford this there is always some office
work that
we can trade. (If you would like more information there is a wonderful article
available on
line from the What the Bleep Herald @
http://www.whatthebleep.com/herald11/print/
articles-print.shtml)
If we have not met before, kindly allow me to introduce myself. My name is Laila
Meridian
Grace. I have been a spiritual devotee/practitioner of numerous spiritual paths
for almost
40 years now. You may know me as a naturopathic doctor from my television shows,
web
site or advertising. My passion since a young child has been to be a part of
people's
healing; of body, heart and soul….to contribute to people's joy gives me the
greatest joy.
I recently returned from a 21-day process where hundreds of people like myself,
including
my beloved husband Johnny, experienced an opening taking place where we were
given
the ability to place our hands on people's heads and open a doorway for them to
experience the divine. We were told that by sharing this experience with others
it would
bring about our own spiritual deepening and that the openings that people
experience by
this laying on of hands will hasten their personal experience of the divine
within them.
That humanity stands at precipice. We could destroy ourselves with our
technology or we
could bring about what has been prophesied by many different religions and
cultures…a
thousand years of love, peace and advancement for all life…The Golden Age.
Amma and Bagwan are avatars who created this process. They shared the metaphor
that I
will paraphrase for you, "when you want to plant a crop it is good to know that
the rain is
on the way, that this is a very special time in the history of humanity where
the grace
seeds of peace and causeless love can germinate and grow." That is why they
chose now
to create a process where someone as common place as my self can lay her hands
on your
head and open the doors to your awakening to your divinity. Austin has over 20
people
who can do this and our numbers are growing. Amma and Bagwan are very unique in
that
they are not interested in becoming gurus or starting a new religion. One of
their
intentions is to give everyone who receives Deeksha a personal experience of God
in the
way that they worship God, through the Deeksha. For people who don't relate to
religion,
they have a transcendental experience. All can benefit and all are welcome.
Every change in consciousness we make, no matter how small it seems, ripples
through
the entire web of life creating change for all!
Good morning Central Texas!

Would you like to know more therapists to call on when you are in
need of bodywork? Would you like to know who to refer to for
special populations; i.e.: pregnancy, elderly, cancer patients,
etc.? I would, too!

ourselves and tell a bit about our specialties. Then, we will all
head down to the cafeteria to share a wholesome meal and lively
conversation!
Each participant will be given a list of all attendees which will
include contact information, techniques, ideal clients, and the
differential advantage for each therapist. This list has the
potential to be a valuable resource for both you and your clients.
Admission will be capped at 50 participants, so please register soon
to save your space! You are welcome to forward this invitation to
any therapists/bodyworkers/healers that you think might be
interested. This gathering is open to all practicing bodyworker

1) Nobelity Documentary Screening Locations
From Tom Carrol, my friend:
I saw Turk (and Christy) Pipkin's movie Nobelity last night at the
Paramount. What a treasure! The film chronicles Pipkin's search
for answers (and better questions) to his daughters' questions about
the state of the world -- environment, food, human rights, etc. On
his quest for knowledge, Pipkin interviews Nobel laureates from
around the world about their areas of expertise and passionate
causes.
In my opinion, the narrative is eloquent and soothing. The
cinematography is vivid. Three of the five laureates featured in the
film have passed since passed away, so the timing of this project is
uncanny. Because of this film, the voices, passions and wisdom of
these great people will be preserved for posterity, and those who
see this film may be inspired to act.
Here's the link to information about film: http://www.nobelity.org.
If you haven't yet seen the movie, go for it.
Harry Knowles said: "The fact is - it is absolutely brilliant.
Listening to these minds share their insight upon the problems
facing everyone upon every bit of this planet and how to solve them
is essentially just stunning. This is one of the absolute most
important films of this year or any year"
As Ann Richards said: "This film could have a huge impact on the
world."
Take care, friends. Tom

He Said, She Said - A Multimedia Exploration of Gender Roles and
Archetypes, A lecture by Alicia Denney
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1300 W Koenig, across from the Honda Dealership. Cost: Pre-
registration: $10 members/ $12 nonmembers; At door: $12 members/ $15
We've seen "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus," Dr. Phil,
Oprah, match.com, eHarmony, etc, etc, etc. for years now. Why isn't
it getting easier for genders to understand each other, instead of
getting more difficult? Divorce rates are through the roof. Domestic
violence is prevalent. Finding a mate is getting more complicated --
and more convuluted - - by the minute.
He said, She said" ventures to take on this mess. The proposal is
that socialized men and women help contribute to the problems with --
and the problems of -- the opposite gender, including the
victimization of each. Why has our culture been so willing to accept
the traditional gender roles (and their ideals) as norms for so
long?
"He said, She said" goes back to the archetypes, in both their
healthy and wounded forms, and looks at how the idealization of
genders has hurt one another through faulty, unhealthy expression
and projection. A proposal will be made for a way to more fully
understand the perspective the genders have of one another.
Through the use of examples from popular culture (LOTS of movie
scenes and audience interaction...come ready to participate!), the
idea is to spark a fresh look into female and male gender roles and
archetypes. Perhaps these roles, ideals, and wounded archetypes we
have accepted aren't through conscious choice, but rather, through
neglecting to be conscious of them on a daily basis...?
Alicia Denney, M.A., LPC, holds a Masters in Counseling from the
Episcopal Theological Seminary. She is a therapist with Cicada
Recovery Services and New Life Institute and has recently taken a
position with the Travis County Juvenile Probation Department. Her
areas of specialization include complicated grief and trauma,
women's issues, and adults abused as children.
sixteen of the
world's top physicists, engineers, physicians, biologists, researchers,
of the
Oneness Movement is to uplift humanity's consciousness from a state of chronic
separation and suffering into a state of enlightenment - the awareness of
wholeness and
oneness – mainly through an energy transmission process called deeksha. This
article
"Mother of Holistic Medicine" Speaks
"THE SPIRIT OF HEALING" A Holistic Approach to Healthy Living
She knew who she was at a young age and dedicated her life to expressing it fully. Dr. Gladys McGarey, internationally recognized as the 'Mother of Holistic Medicine', is being hosted at a major conference May 26 and 27 in Austin where she will speak, along with two of her grown children, on "The Spirit of Healing: A Holistic Approach to Healthy Living."
Born to medical missionaries in 1920 India, Dr. Gladys, as she is known by her patients and friends, grew up among lepers, elephants and Indian princes. Her adolescence was filled with awe-inspiring adventures of opposite extremes: attempted recruitment by the Third Reich for Hitler's youth army; travels through the Indian outback on medical safaris with her parents; and being on board a train that was stopped by chanting devotees, led by Mahatma Ghandi himself. Her extraordinary childhood was a precursor for an extraordinary life of breakthrough service to the medical profession, and she has emerged to become a recognized innovator in alternative and complementary medicine.
Dr. Gladys's life has been dedicated to bridging the gap between conventional medicine and holistic practices, showing how even the most devastating afflictions can be overcome with a potent mixture of natural therapies, traditional medicine, and prayer. Her ability to foster effective holistic self-management of debilitating chronic conditions has attracted patients far and wide.
In 1970, she co-founded the A.R.E Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, where she and her former husband pioneered the integration of allopathic and holistic medical practices laying the groundwork for the cultural shift of recent years. She authored two holistic classics: The Physician Within You: Medicine for the Millennium and Born to Live. She continues to write articles for health publications, notably a health survey for National Geographic Research and Exploration.
Because of her holistic approach to practicing medicine in the 1950's, and her ground-breaking work with Edgar Cayce's medical readings, she has become a highly sought-after international lecturer, sharing the podium with Andrew Weil, Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, and other notables who became her associates in the American Holistic Medical Association which Dr. McGarey co-founded in 1977.
Last year, at the age of 84, she traveled to India and war torn Afghanistan to help implement an international holistic medical project in those developing third-world countries. She worked with children of lepers in villages of northern India, and in the primitive villages of Afghanistan, provided birthing education for women throughout the region. Dr. Gladys defines her mission as "First listening carefully to the wisdom and healing traditions of rural village people, then offering education, training and treatment that support and augment their practices."
At the conference, which celebrates the 20-year anniversary of the Human Potential Center, Dr. Gladys will present "The Physician Within You," which is also the title of one of her books. She will also speak on "Faith, Spirit, and the Art of Healing", and "The New Holistic Vision: Living Medicine in a Living World." There will also be a slide show presentation of her work last year in Afghanistan and India. Her son, Robert, Executive Director of the Human Potential Center, will lecture on "The Greatest Natural Resource: Human Potential in the 21st Century," and her daughter, Analea, will present a workshop entitled, "My Body, My Beloved."
The conference will take place at the Red Lion Hotel in Austin, Texas on Friday and Saturday, May 26 and 27, 2006. The fee for the conference is $105, or $15 for Friday night and $95 for all-day Saturday. The conference will be preceded by a Book Signing and Book Reading on Thursday, May 25 at The Human Potential Center, in which both Dr. Gladys and her daughter Analea will read from the biography Analea wrote about Dr. Gladys' life as she grew up in India and later helped found the holistic health movement in the U.S. and around the world.
A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe,' a part limited
in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as
something separate from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of his
consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to
our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. ~
LINIMENTS, OILS & OTHER PAIN RELIEVING TOOLS
Saturday, April 22, 10am - 5pm
$90.00, credit cards accepted
Many therapists learned to use hot and cold packs in school to assist with pain
control,
but would like to use some other tools as well. Or they would like to have some
products
available to recommend to clients to use between sessions. There are many
advertisements in every publication, but it can be hard to tell what ones are
best. This
class looks at the physiologic mechanisms of pain, and what the actions of pain
reducers
are. This allows the therapist to make an informed choice about products on the
market
and determine which would work best for their needs. Class includes an
opportunity to
experience a number of products and tools.
MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY FOR MASSAGE THERAPISTS
Sunday, April 23, 10am - 5pm
$90.00, credit cards accepted
Have you ever had a client tell you they have a condition that you have never
heard of?
Have you wondered what it is and whether you should focus on it or not work on
it at all?
Have you ever talked to a chiropractor or doctor and didn't know what the words
meant?
This class will give you the basics to break down medical words and derive a
meaning that
makes sense. The class includes typical terms encountered by massage
therapists, as well
as tools to figure out the not so common words. You will also learn how to
effectively
document information so that it is usable by other health care providers.
BOTH CLASSES TAUGHT BY:
Michelle Burns, RN, RMT, MTI
of Advanced Holistic Healing Arts
Michelle holds a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and has practiced in a wide
variety of
specialities. She works closely with many health care professionals as a
certified medical
massage therapist. She teaches continuing education classes for massage
therapists and
state exam review classes.
Would you like meet other healing professionals in the Austin-area?
Would you like to know more therapists to call on when you are in
need of bodywork? Would you like to know who to refer to for
special populations; i.e.: pregnancy, elderly, cancer patients,
etc.? I would, too!
I will be hosting a gathering in Casa de Luz's Cielo Room on Sunday,
May 7 from 4:45-6:00pm. You are cordially invited to join me for an
opportunity to meet Austin-area therapists and find out more about
each other. We will each be allowed a minute or so to introduce
ourselves and tell a bit about our specialties. Then, we will all
head down to the cafeteria to share a wholesome meal and lively
conversation!
Each participant will be given a list of all attendees which will
include contact information, techniques, ideal clients, and the
differential advantage for each therapist. This list has the
potential to be a valuable resource for both you and your clients.
Admission will be capped at 50 participants, so please register soon
to save your space! You are welcome to forward this invitation to
any therapists/bodyworkers/healers that you think might be
interested. This gathering is open to all practicing bodyworker
types in Austin, Pflugerville, Round Rock and Georgetown. There
will be a $3 admission charge to cover costs for hosting this
event. A lovely, "home-cooked", macrobiotic meal will be available
after our meeting in the Casa de Luz cafeteria for only $12. Dinner
is optional, and I do hope that you will stay and deepen your
connection with your new acquaintances.
To register, please send an email to happybrandi@... by April
30. Once your registration has been received, I will send an email
to you outlining all of the details.
I look forward to learning more about my Austin-area colleagues and
sharing an evening of community with you!
Your Life Purpose and the Angels
By Doreen Virtue
"What's my life's purpose?" is one of the most frequent questions
I'm asked. Our angels know the answer to this question, and they
want to give us guidance, encouragement, and support concerning this
topic.
When someone asks, "What's my life purpose?" the underlying question
may be one of the following:
What career would I find the most fulfilling?
Can I quit my present job and be financially secure following my
heart's desire?
Am I ready to be self-employed?
What's my true passion that will bring excitement and meaning to my
life?
These are wonderful and very important questions to consider, and
our angels can definitely give us answers. In particular, the
Archangel Michael can give us the answers to these questions.
Michael knows the contents of our soul contracts and akashic records
(Book of Life). He can help us to remember why we came to earth, and
the mission that we intend for our lives. He can also guide us on
the next step to take toward the fulfillment of our dreams.
Michael can also give us the courage to change careers, so that
we're in alignment with our personal truth. The Divine Plan of Peace
calls for each of us to be working in fields that we feel personally
meaningful and exciting. You know that you've found your life's
purpose if you wake up in the morning excited about your work! Doors
open up easily for those who are working in the field of their life'
purpose. There are lots of signs, both from your feelings and from
the world's feedback, to let you know if you're on your purpose.
Having a career aligned with your purpose brings health in all
areas: emotional, physical, spiritual, relationship, and financial.
With the New Year just around the corner, now's the perfect time to
set the intention of manifesting a career in alignment with your
life's purpose.
The angels have taught me that our life's purpose is the form of
love that we elected to teach during our lifetime. Each of us is
here to remember and teach about divine love. The form that we teach
about love differs for all of us. Virtually all careers offer
opportunities to teach love, in one way or another. It may involve
bringing joy or laughter through arts or crafts; conducting
healings; supporting a cause that you believe in; helping children,
the environment, animals, or some personally meaningful group;
writing and teaching; meditating and praying; and an infinite number
of other possibilities.
Everyone's life purpose is equally important, just as all musicians
in an orchestra are equally necessary. No one can beat you to your
purpose, so you needn't worry that you'll be usurped by someone
else. In Heaven, there's no competition or time.
Joy is the key. If something brings you joy, then you're making an
important contribution to the world. Joy lifts us all up, and helps
with the world's collective ascension process. No matter what you're
doing, look for ways to infuse your moments with joy.
Since worry energy is unhealthy, it's important not to worry over
your life's purpose. The angels say, "Instead of worrying, put that
same time and energy into asking for our help!"
Before going to sleep, ask Archangel Michael to clarify any
questions or concerns you have about your life's purpose. He'll give
you answers while you're sleeping, which is when we're most open to
receiving angelic support and healing.
It's also really effective to communicate with Michael via writing.
Take a pad of paper, go to a quiet place, and write Michael a
question at the top of the page. He will definitely answer you, as
he answers all of us equally. Write whatever impressions come to
you, whether they're feelings, thoughts, words, or visions. Soon,
you'll have very clear written conversations with Michael.
Archangel Michael says, "The purpose of your life is to serve in a
way that brings great joy to yourself and others. Don't worry about
finding your purpose. Instead, focus upon serving a purpose, and
then your purpose will serve you."
we're in alignment with our personal truth. The Divine Plan of Peace
calls for each of us to be working in fields that we feel personally
meaningful and exciting. You know that you've found your life's
purpose if you wake up in the morning excited about your work! Doors
open up easily for those who are working in the field of their life'
purpose. There are lots of signs, both from your feelings and from
the world's feedback, to let you know if you're on your purpose.
Having a career aligned with your purpose brings health in all
areas: emotional, physical, spiritual, relationship, and financial.
With the New Year just around the corner, now's the perfect time to
set the intention of manifesting a career in alignment with your
life's purpose.
The angels have taught me that our life's purpose is the form of
love that we elected to teach during our lifetime. Each of us is
here to remember and teach about divine love. The form that we teach
about love differs for all of us. Virtually all careers offer
opportunities to teach love, in one way or another. It may involve
bringing joy or laughter through arts or crafts; conducting
healings; supporting a cause that you believe in; helping children,
the environment, animals, or some personally meaningful group;
writing and teaching; meditating and praying; and an infinite number
of other possibilities.
Everyone's life purpose is equally important, just as all musicians
in an orchestra are equally necessary. No one can beat you to your
purpose, so you needn't worry that you'll be usurped by someone
else. In Heaven, there's no competition or time.
Joy is the key. If something brings you joy, then you're making an
important contribution to the world. Joy lifts us all up, and helps
with the world's collective ascension process. No matter what you're
doing, look for ways to infuse your moments with joy.
Since worry energy is unhealthy, it's important not to worry over
your life's purpose. The angels say, "Instead of worrying, put that
same time and energy into asking for our help!"
Before going to sleep, ask Archangel Michael to clarify any
questions or concerns you have about your life's purpose. He'll give
you answers while you're sleeping, which is when we're most open to
receiving angelic support and healing.
It's also really effective to communicate with Michael via writing.
Take a pad of paper, go to a quiet place, and write Michael a
question at the top of the page. He will definitely answer you, as
he answers all of us equally. Write whatever impressions come to
you, whether they're feelings, thoughts, words, or visions. Soon,
you'll have very clear written conversations with Michael.
Archangel Michael says, "The purpose of your life is to serve in a
way that brings great joy to yourself and others. Don't worry about
finding your purpose. Instead, focus upon serving a purpose, and
then your purpose will serve you."
Another good tidbit from my good friend Linda Granger in Omaha
Nebraska..
Feng Shui Tips
By Linda Granger
Feng Shui Outdoors - Entry
Wherever you enter your home property, via a driveway (largest
entrance) is your primary entry. How do your home and yard appear
from the street? Is your home visible from the street? Is your front
door visible, or do you just know it's there behind an overgrowth of
bushes?
This is the perfect time of year to implement the best approach to
your home. We'll assume at this point that all "hardscapes"
(driveway, fencing, etc.) are in good repair and the yard is tidy.
Readers who dwell in multi-family housing (apts., condos, etc.) may
take a moment to mention necessary repairs to the appropriate party
and do what you can for your specific entry.
Notice the view of your property entry from across the street, if
possible. How does it make you feel? What can be done to make your
home look brighter and more welcoming? Let your imaginination run
with this. What would be the best possible entry for this property?
Your "dream entry" may take more work, time and budget than you have
allotted this year. Make a plan. Install any hardscapes first, then
the bones (trees, deciduous and evergreen), followed by perennials.
Your total budget should average ten percent (10%) of your property
value. Give yourself two to five (2-5) years, if necessary, to
achieve the property entry of your dreams. Plan on using annuals
every year for lush, bright color.
I'm reminded of a funny story as we move closer to your home and
consider the porch and door. My husband and I were visiting friends
in a lovely neighborhood (Dundee). He started commenting on how sad
it was to see such a great area become so run-down, and filled
with "street characters" (my words, not his). I asked what made him
say such a thing since the place still held its charm. He commented
that all the red front doors must be where "street characters" lived
and the place was dotted with them, turning the neighborhood into
a "red light district." I burst out laughing. The idea that a red
door could signify a modern bordello had never occurred to me. Once
again a culture clash brought on by the use of color. Who knew? I
explained that a few people must have "read a book" on Feng Shui and
thought it was the right thing to do. Neighbors might have copied
the idea and it had nothing to do with "street characters." What a
hoot! The thought still gives me giggles.
Anyone who has the correct alignment of their natal and location
elements may be well served with a red door. Others may find it too
harsh. How does a red door fit with your home? Do you happily blend
in with your neighbors or stick out like a sore thumb? Please
consult a professional in these matters.
Now let's take a look at your front porch. Fresh paint or varnish
can work wonders to give this area a facelift. Container plantings
and a welcome mat are minimal decor items that will fit into the
tiniest of spaces. Consider a wall mounted container if there is
absolutely no comfortable porch space (3x3 or less). Use seasonal
silk plants in containers where live annuals are inappropriate, or
sure to quickly die.
Welcome mats should be thin enough so that tripping is unlikely.
Those with proportionately adequate space would do well to consider
welcoming furniture: a cushioned loveseat, side table, etc. Make a
point of actually using your "outdoor room" to read a book, visit
with neighbors, or enjoy the moment.
Thanks Sherry!
"What is success? Whom do you call a successful person? What are the
signs of success? Ulcers? Blood Pressure? Fear? Ego? Anxiety?
Problems? Are these the signs of success? Then what are the signs?
Power?
Look at all the people who are in power, there is such a struggle
and they are not happy. Then when they have power, there is so much
fear that they may lose it! To maintain it, again there is struggle
and when they have lost it the memory of that power makes them
miserable...A Smile that comes from the depth of an innocent heart,
the freedom which you are able to feel in life.. these are the signs
of success.
Are you free? Then you are successful! Are you in the present
Are you useful to the people around you? Then your life is a success!
4) Centering Prayer Workshop at Church of Conscious Harmony==for
details see www.consciousharmony.org
Prayer is our relationship to God. Centering Prayer is a method of
exercising this relationship - it provides access to deep forms of
prayer known in the tradition as contemplation or contemplative
prayer. This prayer may be described as silent communion with God.
It is the core practice for spiritual growth and transformation.
We may think of prayer as thoughts or feelings expressed in words.
But this is only one expression. Centering Prayer is the opening of
mind and heart - our whole being - to God, the Ultimate Mystery,
beyond thoughts, words and emotions. We open our awareness to God
whom we know by faith is within us, closer than breathing, closer
than thinking, closer than choosing - closer than consciousness
itself. Centering Prayer is a process of interior purification
leading, if we consent, to divine union.
Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer; it
simply puts other kinds of prayer into a new and fuller perspective.
During the time of prayer we consent to God's presence and action
within, while at other times our attention moves outward to discover
God's presence everywhere.
The foundational book describing the practice, fruits and experience
of Centering Prayer is Fr. Thomas Keating's Open Mind, Open Heart.
Introduction to Centering Prayer course
For persons beginning a prayer practice and desiring a deeper
relationship with God, we offer the Introduction to Centering Prayer
course four times per year. The course consists of:
A six-hour workshop. This workshop includes four talks that
introduce the method of Centering Prayer. Centering Prayer practice
sessions are also included.
Six weekly meetings. Each ninety-minute meeting includes a Fr.
Keating video and a Centering Prayer session. Both the videos and
the prayer sessions are instrumental in establishing a prayer
practice.
Commitment to this seven-week course is also an experience in
community. In addition to deepening our prayer life, relationships
to each other are deepened. We support each other in learning and
growing. Therefore, signing up for this seven-week course is not
only a commitment to one's own growth in God but is also a
commitment to community.
6) Happy Spring.
Community yoga is beginning again. I am holding space and guiding
our yoga practice in communion with nature, on Wednesday mornings
at 10:00 - 11:30 am. We meet behind barton springs (behind the back
gate on the Robert E Lee side. Under the big pecan tree, next to
the bleachers, in the soccer field.)
Patrice will be there on Friday's 12:15(ish) - 1:45 (ish) - while
she is in town and then perhaps myself or another one of us will be
inspired to lead that day. This is an exploration of new place, new
time, new teachers. So please come join and see where we go.
At community yoga we practice in a circle, and it is freely offered
on a donation basis. All are welcome. Please bring your own mat
and/or blanket.
I am also excited to be practicing massage in a beautiful new
Advanced Holistic Healing Arts is offering two unique CEU classes in April. Here
is your
opportunity to learn about some special tools for pain relief and improve your
ability to
communicate with doctors, chiropractors and other health care specialists. If
you get
referrals from the medical field, or would like to, you need to know the
language. In this
six hour class you can easily improve those skills. In Liniments, Oils and Other
Pain
Relieving Tools you can try out some of those products you have seen advertised
to see
which ones suit you best.
Join us for these special learning opportunities:
LINIMENTS, OILS & OTHER PAIN RELIEVING TOOLS
6 CEU Hours
Saturday, April 22, 10am - 5pm
$90.00, credit cards accepted
Register through Resource Connection, 512-294-3271
Many therapists learned to use hot and cold packs in school to assist with pain
control,
but would like to use some other tools as well. Or they would like to have some
products
available to recommend to clients to use between sessions. There are many
advertisements in every publication, but it can be hard to tell what ones are
best. This
class looks at the physiologic mechanisms of pain, and what the actions of pain
reducers
are. This allows the therapist to make an informed choice about products on the
market
and determine which would work best for their needs. Class includes an
opportunity to
experience a number of products and tools.
MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY FOR MASSAGE THERAPISTS
6 CEU Hours
Sunday, April 23, 10am - 5pm
$90.00, credit cards accepted
Register through Resource Connection, 512-294-3271
Have you ever had a client tell you they have a condition that you have never
heard of?
Have you wondered what it is and whether you should focus on it or not work on
it at all?
Have you ever talked to a chiropractor or doctor and didn't know what the words
meant?
This class will give you the basics to break down medical words and derive a
meaning that
makes sense. The class includes typical terms encountered by massage
therapists, as well
as tools to figure out the not so common words. You will also learn how to
effectively
document information so that it is usable by other health care providers.
BOTH CLASSES TAUGHT BY:
Michelle Burns, RN, RMT, MTI
of Advanced Holistic Healing Arts
Michelle holds a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and has practiced in a wide
variety of
specialities. She works closely with many health care professionals as a
certified medical
massage therapist. She teaches continuing education classes for massage
therapists and
state exam review classes.
Michelle has a history of working with others to see situations in new ways and
helps
others reach their full potential. She believes learning should be fun,
interactive,
participatory and relevant and puts these skills and beliefs to work in all her
classes.
We have decided to rent one of the large offices in our clinic. It's 140
square feet and it would be a perfect size for a massage therapist or other
professional person who needs just one office to conduct business. The
occupant would have access to it 7 days a week and also access to the
utility room where there is a microwave and refrigerator, and of course, a
rest room. If you know of anyone that might be interested, have them call
the office at 868-6400 Mon, Wed, or Fri from 9-12 or 2-6 or the cell
791-7604.
Thanks!
