What sort of reaction do you get? If it is gas - well beans are known for
that problem. But if it is dermatitis herptiformis (DH) then you know it is
a gluten reaction. If it is a stomach/gut thing than it might well be that
it is not gluten per se, but gut dysbiosis or the wrong gut bacteria growing
too well with the nutrients that beans provide.
Are you buying dried beans and cooking them yourself? Do you pick through
to remove all barley, wheat, stones, etc? Do you rinse them thoroughly? Do
you soak overnight before cooking and replace the water before you cook
them?

Subject: [Celiac Sprue Disease] GF beans
I know that beans are supposed to be GF, but every time I make them, I get a
reaction. Recently, I went to the grocery and stood there staring at the
packages of beans. I noticed all the different types of beans, and finally
noticed that all of the companies that package theses beans also package
barley. I suppose that's why I react to them.
Question - does anyone know of a company that packages beans but NOT barley?
Many thanks -
Valerie
