Oats test   Message List

I was diagnosed with Celiac, as well as CIDP, in May 2005. I have
been doing my best to stay gluten free since then. I'm doing good so
far with avoiding the killer cravings (vanilla wafers, Big Macs,
cresent rolls, etc) but my beast is oatmeal. You all know how it
goes, you could care less about eating something until they say you
CAN'T have it. Well, with my CIDP I have alot of "bad days" and
feel sick a ton. My "chicken soup" has always been a big bowl of
oatmeal with brown sugar and milk.

So here's my question. How long should I wait before testing the
oats on my system? My gastro could care less that I have celiac and
had ulcers at the time of endoscope with biopsy in May. I had been
hospitalized for 19 days before they made either diagnosis and the
scope was done at UK Medical Center over 2 hours from home. My so
called Dr. is local. I don't know if it is resentment for him not
having made the correct dx last November or just a general rush in
his office practices.

How long did your, attentive Drs. make you wait before testing any
foods that were questionable for you? I have had very few stomach
troubles since my new diet started in June 2005.
