If you're interested in just the regular 40 channels in AM mode you'd
be hard pressed to beat this combo:
Uniden 510

Wilson 1000

The little Uniden radio is inexpensive and has very good audio tx
quality right out of the box. The real key is to have an antenna
that is very efficient, and no one will argue that the wilson is
anything other than top shelf.
