I have a page about how to construct a rigid 10m
dipole which would work OK for CB as well.

http://www.geocities.com/n2uhc_2/10m_dipole.html

Using the L=234/F formula, I get 8.602 feet at 27.200
MHZ, which is close to the center of the CB band.
Converting the tenths into inches gives about 7.2", or
8' 7 1/4", which is pretty close to 8' 8". Of course
some trimming will probably be required to get a good
VSWR, so it's OK to make it a little longer, and exact
dimensions down to the 1/4" probably won't matter
anyway.
