Daniel, It sounds like your radio has a problm with its caps, they are bleeding off till they warm up. There is a place local that mybe able to fix it for you....

... I'd start with the Squelch control...in fact all of the "Potentiometers" could use a good cleaning with some Radio Shack,or other "Potentiometer"...
