39 LSB EMERGENCY NET ACTIVATION NOTICE

This is for Hurricane Katrina as it is heading towards the Gulf Coast (New
Orleans-Mobile AL-NW FL.) areas. Potential for strengthening to Category 4
(according to CNN last night).

All members of this yahoogroup with CB radios are urged to begin monitoring
39 LSB and alert those on the channel to the Hurricane Net. We need a lot of
help with this one. Please reply to this message letting me know that you
received it and if you are monitoring or wish to serve as a net control
station.

The net will be to pass along Health & Welfare Traffic as well as any news
(Skywarn-REACT wise) to the channel. REACT groups are invited to use the
frequency as a communication tool. (could someone on the REACT yahoogroup pass
this message along to them please)?

THIS IS A VERY LIFE THREATENING SITUATION AND HELP IS REQUESTED.

Again, please let us know if you received this message and are monitoring 39
LSB. We may need a few Net Controllers to run the net which will last until
Friday. Not only will we cover the Gulf areas that are in the path of
Katrina, but we will cover areas North and East too, due to Heavy rain and
Severe
Weather that Katrina's remnants will make.
