That's right folks.
The 7th Annual World CB Radio Championships are coming January 15-16, 2005.
The Contest is backed by three groups this year: *Contest used to be called
the International CB QSL Contest.
Popular Communications, this CB Radio yahoogroup, and the United States
Advanced Warning Storm Spotters and Chasers group (USAWSSC for short).
Steve M. "Minuteman"(from the MCBES club is the two time defending champion
in the AM competition).
Ernie Rice is the defending Legal SSB (within the 40 channel) winner (beating
out hopefuls THE FINK and SPACECASE, and 2 others). Will Ernie hold the
title or will Fink get his day in the spotlight or will Doug come and reclaim
glory. We will see on January 16th.
Rules are pretty clear
Object: Contact as many individuals as you can in 24 hours
2 PM EST Saturday-2 PM EST Sunday.
Three contests this year (looking for an additional 2 more----discuss this
please).
AM within the 40 Division
SSB within the 40 Division
BRAND NEW CONTEST for those outside North America and run other channels for
your legal CB Radios there.
INTERNATIONAL Division STAY WITHIN YOUR LEGAL CHANNELS on AM&SSB or whatever
the governments give you. Just give us the Mhz. range before you compete!
Spread the word on all bands and give me an early list of competitors.
Clubs! This contest is also for you.
Winners will receive another nice certificate (and do we have any other ideas
for a second prize)?
Now to our friend and supporter-Alan Dixon, if you have any comments or ideas
for the contest (and if you could publish stuff---go for it). Also, I will
be away at the start of the contest at a retreat, if you or someone else wishes
to give the official "START YOUR DIODES" command lol (go for it) (not sure
who originally said that one year but I liked it).
Contest always happens the Saturday and Sunday before Martin Luther King Jr.
Day so get ready folks and hang on for a good time. This contest is a
Celebration of CB radioing and to show that we still do have an important part
to
play when times get rough.
Sign up now. Lets get twice as many people the last two years combined.
Ok Ernie, Fink, Doug S., and Spacecase, lets hear your speeches!
Good luck all!
Keith (listmaster of CB radio yahoogroup).
