I've been in the group for a while, but lurking rather than
contributing. I've been experimenting with the FRS and MURS
services, but I finally decided to go back to CB after some years of
absence. So I bought a cheapie RS antenna and dug out my ancient
Sears Roadtalker 60 SSB unit. ALthough I probably haven't used it
in more than 5 years, it fired right up and after a shout of CQ, had
a Florida station come back to me on 38USB ( I live in IN). Not too
bad for an unmodified rig and a $20 antenna!

I hope to get more into monitoring as my time allows. I currently
monitor FRS channel 1...
